Nokia World 2009 news from Stuttgart

which is the biggest news: the nokia entering the computer market with its Booklet 3G or the N900 first Maemo phone, or the cheap Symbian touch devices XM5230 and XM5530 which with GPS and touch have a very competitive price of euro 149?

Videos will be a big ask (1: I don't like hearing - or seeing myself - natch; 2: editing and publishing is a lot of work)

Text: definitely. Both in this thread and - more easily (assuming there's decent wifi) - Twitter.

Videos are easy to do, even with no editing they are good for us, for instance with N900 I'm interested on some candy UI stuff like kinetic scrolling, and how responsive is, and if it has a default screen (or desktop, because I understand there are many desktops).

On the other hand I'm interested, as a developer, about how easy will be to publish apps on Ovi Store for maemo.

If you have the pipe to push the raw material, I'm sure we'll be able solve the work part.

If any of you attendees have a S60 mobile you can use Qik to do some livestreaming perhaps.

It would be awesome if they gave you a N900 for you to tweet and take pictures there!...

As for the videos: just shoot some of the cute models that will be around there showing the products! :p :) Something like "Send a kiss to the geek developers!!" :D

i'm not talking about n97 mini or 5230 either they have a surprise still, which is obvious as they was never going to announce n900 and booklet 3g a week early then not keep an exclusive for day 1

Nokia has something big on their hat in Germany:
* maybe another Maem flagship device, other than N900
* a Maemo booklet?
* also a Symbian better touch device:

Videos from Nokia World here:

http://www.youtube.com/nokiaconversations

Rumors Nokia will launch a 12 MP camera smartphone and a E series phone that could be a Symbian or a Maemo smartphone.

Will Nokia confirm the Maemo 5" tablet that is in work now, or at a future event?

32 GB memory

20 friends onto your homescreen, along with communities such as Facebook and it’s also a fully connected social butterfly.

Did we mention the 35 hours of music playback? 16 days standby time
5-megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash,
TV-out, video editing, online sharing, Nokia Music store,
full web browser and Flash Lite support.
A-GPS, Ovi Maps and Playlist DJ.
If you fancy a bit of gaming, then Spore is included, along with DJ Mix Tour and Asphalt4.

450 euro - same as N97 mini

The X3 is a S40 device... this is strange, this is not symbian, not maemo, and why they still use s40 which as a platform is limited to only Java?

The X3 price is good a t115 euro, but I know there are more people who want this device with a Symbian OS which has many more apps and more coming including MS Office, so then what was the advantage having this device running S40 instead of Symbian? Is there any advantage, because I can see many disadvantajes, as market fragmentation, users confused why they cannot install Symbian apps on it, also having this device with Symbian will have been more Symbian adopters, more people to follow nokia's path. I think people buying this X3 and not knownig the big difference between s40 and s60 are simply tricked and they can be unsatisfied customers... Nokia cares about this? :D

X6 has a 433 Mhz processor, 32 GB storage, what is the internal memory C: drive? This was an issue for N97 with only about 40 MB because on C: the emails are stored and many pre-installed applications are on C, and also other apps want to be installed only on C:. Same question about C: for N97 mini, and also what is the RAM, still 128 MB like 5800 or N97 or more RAM?

The live Stream from the Nokia conversations site does not even work on the IT's itself. Too bad. I am up in bed at 4 in the morning and cant catch the event unless I switch on the desktop.

Any streams that can be played on the IT itself ?
But good news coming out indeed ....

Re: Nokia World 2009 news from Stuttgart

There's no real reason to wait for "step 5", actually. Every manufacturer ALWAYS have a better device in work, it's an unending process and one can wait for the best one forever. Motorola & Samsung work on NVidia Tegra phones, Apple works on improved iPhone and internet tablet, and after that there will be better chips and new devices in work, better again.
N900 is absolutely cool and that won't change no matter next devices.

''I noticed that the N900 has the well known S60 video streaming app, “Qik,” available in the repositories, but I didn't have a chance to try it out. I think we might see some very interesting video streaming apps become available in the future. Perhaps news reporters will stream video live from their N900s as events happen?''
