Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
Hello I just wanted to try maemo but it seems I am unable to do it, I cannot install the nokia binaries.
I edited the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/maemo5.0_scratchbox.list file, added the deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle ............. what I got after agreeing the license. started the scracthbox an update seems to work but after the nokia packeges are not found Did I edited the right file? Re: Instalation problems
I think you just should add the repository to /etc/apt/sources.list
|
Re: Instalation problems
There's a manual out there for a good reason:
http://maemo.org/development/sdks/ma..._installation/ :-) |
Re: Instalation problems
Hello Laco.
I got the same problem and I don't know if found a solution. The manual seems to be very clear but the problem still persists. That's what I did: Login the scratchbox ... Accept the EULA and copy the repository link ... Add the nokia repository link to the sources.list ... apt-get update ... fakeroot apt-get install nokia-binaries ... And finally I got the same error message. E:Couldn't find package nokia-binaries. It seems the process is unable to find the repository I just added to the sources.list file żAny idea? Best regards |
Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
A couple things --
1. the Nokia Binaries link must be added to the sources list INSIDE the scratchbox. 2. Make sure you copy the Whole url including the alpha-numberic code that is at the end of the url. It should look like: Code:
deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/<SOME CODE>Nathan. |
Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
Before you run apt-get update you need to change the source.list that is inside the scratchbox, not your host operating system. For example:
Code:
[sbox-FREMANTLE_<X86/ARMEL>: ~] vi /etc/apt/source.list |
Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
Oh ok it's not:
[sbox-FREMANTLE_<X86/ARMEL>: ~] vi /etc/apt/source.list but [sbox-FREMANTLE_<X86/ARMEL>: ~] vi /etc/apt/sources.list That's ok for me now. thanks |
Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
Hi all,
I hope I can use this thread to ask a similar question as well. When I executed this command below: $ sudo ./maemo-scratchbox-install_5.0.sh -u USER Do I have to create a new user in my ubuntu first? I found the documentation said: [Clarification needed: it's not clear to a first-timer whether this should be an existing user name from the host linux system, or a new user name for use only inside the scratchbox environment.] Thank you, Adhika |

Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
Hi Daniel, Thanks a lot for the reply.
Btw yesterday I managed to play around with the desktop. My Graphic Card is only an Intel graphic card, can this explains why I feel it really slow while moving the desktop? Thank you, Adhika |
Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
There were some problems with some graphic cards, which made it really slow. When I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 this problem disappeared. But yes, the graphic card could cause that.

I also have an Intel (GMA X3100), EXA enabled, latest Ubuntu 9.10/x86-64 beta, Compiz enabled. Works great. So I don't see why on a lower resolution as 800x480 it should lag. In my case the Maemo 5 applications work well, and there is no lag or tearing in the UI. I also followed this guide to get rid of occasional tearing. |

Also, not so obvious is that you will need to select the ARMEL target with Code:
sb-conf se FREMANTLE_ARMELMaybe the documentation could be clarified with this regard? Regards, Julius |
Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
It really could be clarified regarding to this double issue...
I still continue having this problem. I´ve edited the two files [sbox-FREMANTLE_ARMEL: ~] > vi /etc/apt/sources.list [sbox-FREMANTLE_X86: ~] > vi /etc/apt/sources.list both with the vim commands. i for inserting text I pasted the link after accepting EULA and :wq for writing and quiting saving changes I notice one thing: In my terminal it never appeared [sbox-FREMANTLE_<X86/ARMEL>: ~] > but just one of both targets. (Like [sbox-FREMANTLE_ARMEL: ~] >) I tried to select both in sb-menu but I did not figure it out... The funniest thing is that the error is in the first line of the file: [sbox-FREMANTLE_X86: ~] > apt-get update Err http://repository.maemo.org fremantle/sdk Release.gpg Temporary failure resolving 'repository.maemo.org' ... Did anyone have the same problem? Cannot wait to play with maemo... Greets |
Re: Maemo 5 SDK Installation problems
@ develofer, your DNS and/or routing and/or firewall is not set up correct. Are you running from within VM? Check if /etc/resolv.conf is correct, try to ping your DNS server, and check output route -n
