Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
I am assuming Vagalume will be available for Fremantle, but wanted to make sure that this is discussed. Vagalume is such a top notch application on the N8*0 internet tablets, I would sure hate to see this one fall by the wayside on the N900. Especially since it is the only application I am aware of that can stream a customizable internet radio station on the devices. It would be cool if Pandora or Slacker or Spotify application were created, but I think Last.fm is the only one that is open to developers, right? Anyway, just wanted to bring it up.

And Spotify, themselves, have written a library: http://developer.spotify.com/en/libspotify/overview/ (although, upon further reading, I see it says "linux-libc6 IA32" >.<. despotify works fine, though. :)) And considering it's a Fremantle star (and some of its buttons in the main view are already "finger-friendly" in Diablo), I'd be surprised if we did not see it. :) |
Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
Spotify isn't available in the united states yet though, last.fm and the others are however. At least that's what the spotify website tells me when I checked into it. Seems like the ultimate service though. Thanks for the replys!

Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
I love Vagalume!!
Unfortunately we may find that the Maemo 5 version doesn't allow access to non-subscribers, as Last.fm re-issued APIs within the past year or so, blocking access from "mobile" devices, but was OK for Vagalume as it ran on Tablets, which did not have such facilities. |
Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
A Last.FM subscription is only $3 (or 3 of your local currency) per month - chump change when you consider the functionality that you get with the full streaming experience.
I would *love* to test this when it comes available, and can do so privately or publicly. The lack of a proper Last.FM streaming app is one of the things that drove me to remove the SIM from my N900, so I'd really really really love to see Vagalume back in action. |

Thank you Alberto this is working great on my N900!! Currently I am streaming Last.fm at my desk at work and it is a nice break in my day. This was a great app on my N810 and it works great over t-mobile 3g!!
Thank you!!! |

So...Do you think it will be able to stream last.fm radios on the n900 in the near future?

Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
i tried to give you a bug report Alberto but bugzilla is not working for me- atleast as of yesterday. however, i found that on the n900 with 8.2v i am getting the track time indicator overran by the black fill and the result is the white font becomes black on black background and unreadable.

Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
it already streams on n900!!! working fine here

Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
Last fm streams on the n900, you just have to create your own server file for it, as the default one doesn't work for n900 (because its a phone and last.fm doens't want you to. see the vagalume FAQ).

You have to request your own api and key from last.fm, they use an automated process to respond to your request, in other words, they don't realy verify the reason for your reqest. |

Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
Does anyone know if there's already a maintained "Vagamule" version for the N900?
Read: General recording options re-enabled instead of only the download of the free Last.fm songs. |
Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
The new vagalume version in extraas-testing is sooooo much faster when switching between tracks on last.fm. Thx.

Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
OK, so I'm slightly unclear here... how exactly do I go about scrobbling with Vagalume or is this feature not available due to the last.fm "restrictions"?

1. to use vagalume with lastfm, you need to import your own configfile with your API-Key. instruction can be found here at talk.maemo.org if you want. 2. login with your lastfm account in vagalume and enable scrobbling in the settings. it works quite well. |
Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
(1) Already imported my own server.xml with API/secret key
(2) scrobbling enabled Doesn't seem to be anywhere to open existing MP3 files on the N900 for scrobbling (or I'm blind and missing something obvious). |

Looks like I got all excited for the wrong app without reading properly :(
Hopefully mafw-lastfm is promoted to stable soon (and scrobbles local files!!!). |
Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
Is there any chances of using keyboard to skip/stop/love/ban (and so on) tracks?
I like the way winamp/xmms uses: Z - back X - play ... It's pratical do use keyboard. Also, is there any chance to buffer for a little time to make it possible to pause? Thanks. |
Re: Vagalume and Maemo 5 (N900)
Hey guys! Is the now-playing feature working?
thanx |
