|
Re: N900 November
And according to swedish and italian nokia shop it says deliver end of october. And on the swedish site this has been the case all along.
At this point i hope i will get it before december, since i haveŽnt preordered it. :( |
Re: N900 November
Hey
Just had another talk with Komplett.dk, and they still say it will come 15 october, they have that date from denmark. So maybe the EU version comes faster then the other one? Lets see. From Kehaan. |
Re: N900 November
I just called Nokia Spain about my pre-order and they told me that it should be available mid-October.
I also called expansys.es where they sell the N900 for 70 euros less and they told it would be available starting 22 October, but they couldn't promise anything yet. |
Re: N900 November
Nokia Spain... I hate you all!
Avaialable mid-october for them or for us, I mean: ready to ship or already in my hands? |

Re: N900 November
Yes, the information hasn't been changing, if you look at the original press release. I hope nobody expects us to react/respond to every time some internet site changes some detail date over when they will get their shipment of devices for them to sell. These country- shop- and site-specific dates can change for a number of reasons, every change doesn't mean a massive SW delay from Maemo side.

Re: N900 November
Lets hope it comes out soon. Also to ASIA and ASIA pacific region. I give NOKIA until January 2010. If N900 is not released by then in ASIA then I will get an Iphone 3GS instead.
Anyone know if Nokia planing to release N900 in ASIA any time soon after Europe and USA? |
Re: N900 November
I think Nokia is trying to extending the sale of N97 and N97 mini and also fixes the firmware bugs before decide to release the N900 into the wild so we can catch it later. I'm holding on to my decision to stay waiting for N900 though. I'm waiting for it to come to ASIA.

Re: N900 November
I thin the best course of action is to wait - and dont come and check thread every day or this forum for that matter (as everybody here WITH an N900 is on a NDA and hence nothing new to know and rest is all speculative stuff).
So much of wasteful speculation and frustrating discussions over rumours will just wear all out and bring on N900-burn-out even before we get our hands on the device. |
Re: N900 November
Thats right... I'll just lay back now and don't think about that anymore ... there are so many things to do.

Kinda Like Apple Users and LINUX users ehhh? And I mean Apple users pre OSX here. There was not much overlap between those two groups. Of course since Apple did UNIX that has changed. iPhone won't cut it for me. I have no interest in it. I was interested and excited about Android till it came out and looked like nothing. But this is the phone I've wanted ever since I bought my first MONOchrome communicator. |

Would that be the original 9000 brick? What a piece of art! I've been a Communicator user for over 10 years now (9000i, 9210, 9500, E90) and it looks like the N900 will be putting an end to this! Finally, a single mobile device, computer first, but makes calls too!! Thank you Nokia!! Somehow I managed to fight the urge to pre-order and the more I see what the N900 represents, the more I think may actually be OK waiting a few more weeks...maybe.. :) |

Funny thing though. I was thinking of ordering the N97 a few weeks ago and stumbled on the 900 which I didn't know anything about! There has been NO advertising about it. I broke out in a cold sweat just thinking about how unhappy I would have been getting the N97 and then finding out about the 900 later! |
Re: N900 November
Speaking on communicator museums. I've got 2x9500 sitting here collecting dust. I've often thought about if it would be possible to put a light Linux kernal on that 80MB native memory and use a MMC card for storage. I mean in all reality its more a novelty than a practical portable wifi terminal. But I hate not being able to have them around to house in the kitchen, living room or whatever. Since I'm not real up on my TI Chipsets, does anyone out there have any thoughts on the ability to port Maemo to the OMAP chipset?
Thought this might be a more positive distraction from our collective depression about the N900 release date. http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_9500-678.php |

Re: N900 November
I noticed expansys-usa.com is selling both the US and the UK version, with the UK version being $50,- more expensive. Does anybody know the difference between the EU, UK and US versions? Is that just the plug on the charger or will there be other differences to take into account?

It's weird noone else has done already actually, this is such an easy one. Well you see the UK version has a build-in bacon and egg making device and the american one shoots bullets out of the 3.5 mm jack plug. For the rest they are the same. Instead of the bullets and the breakfast making the german N900 has a big wall in the middle of the dashboard. But it should be broken down as soon as the new firmware arrives. :P I have done research to this as well actually. As far as my knowledge goes it is mainly how the keys of the keyboard are divided, plus what you already said, the plug on the charger. Input settings are all in the software and I have not read about different software per country, so that should be the same. This is my first post as well as it was yours :) |
Re: N900 November
one of the differences i see between the UK and US version is that one is Tri-Band WCDMA (900/2100), while the other is Dual-Band WCDMA (900/1700/2100)
|
Re: N900 November
Nokia's UK website is now saying expected delivery date of November. I was tempted to order one using Quidco and the 10% off... but I will stick to my original plan of waiting for reviews.
|
Re: N900 November
Amazon UK is still saying 26th October, but they're likely wrong.

lol "select markets from october"....

Re: N900 November
I would like to clear things up for everyone: US phones will be available between oct.19-30 and europe and other countries november 19th thru the 30th. My reasoning is this
from WIki:It was launched at Nokia World on 2 September 2009 and was expected to be released on 27 September 2009 in the United States and on 19 October 2009 in 9 European countries SO as you can see clearly US markets are getting it first, since most of the nov dec dates are coming from euro sources, i suspect i am right. |

I considered buying a different phone. Several different phones, to be exact. I studied and explored each one fully, even to the point of trying out similar hardware just to get a 'feel'. I came very, very close to ordering the HTC HD2. It may be windows mobile, but it has a lot going for it out of the box in terms of history and apps that maemo doesn't. I the end, I rejected it on the grounds I disliked the hardware and it lacked the potential of the n900. By all means question someone's reasons for wanting a particular phone (and which comes out sooner seems a rather silly reason to me) but don't knock people who've researched the market for having considered the alternatives. That's just common sense. Isn't it? |

Re: N900 November
Win 7 Mobile should be better. But HTC gutting the OS to me was more like them putting a fresh layer of paint over the entire OS. What happens when you reach a part that they haven't painted over?
