Too few details (mainly is the cpu arm11 or cortex a8, but also price, availability, battery size...). Also, I would be happier with a few more buttons.

Well, knowing next to nothing, I'll say this: I sure like it's apparent screen-size/housing-size ratio.

Re: SmartDevices V Series 5/7

I still want to see one with a 9" or 10" screen. Especially if they've got Ubuntu doing sensible touch screen rotation.

i cant think of many ARM11's that clock to 600, but that seems to be the typical low point of cortex-a8 variants...

still, lets just say i am more interested in this then archos right now ;)

As far as I can tell, the RK2808 has an arm9 core running at 600MHz.

Reply to questions about the hardware from the only contact info I was given after tryin to call and speak to someone at Smartdevices.

"Sorry, now we(sales department) have no information about the CPU of SmartQ V5/7."

Re: SmartDevices V Series 5/7

Apparently it's a 600MHz ARM11 augmented with some funky DSP/IVA decoder for HD video (Some Telechips ? Tegra APX2500 ? Haven't seen Samsungs/Freescales/TI with such specs).

http://translate.google.com/translat...hl=en&ie=UTF-8

EDIT: Yes, pretty much only the Telechips TCC8900 fits the bill...

Re: SmartDevices V Series 5/7

Nice Pictures of Internals here

What intrigues me is the image showing the Telechips TCC8902 CPU and the Samsung DDR RAM. The Samsung Part number shows up as a 1GB DDR2-800 DRAM. The specs for the device is listed at 256 DDR2 RAM, so am confused.

Re: SmartDevices V Series 5/7

It is 1 Gbit, and there are two of this.

Th interesting question is - what part of the TCC 8900 has Linux drivers and which of them are free - 2D, 3D, video accel.
