Apparently dual-SIM phones are very popular in Asia, but I would think that it's not the multi-providers in different areas which is the cause (because everywhere I've been in Europe and parts of Asia there may be different providers but they're always country-wide).

The dual business phone/private phone issue is probably the main driver. And, for some, routine travel to some other country.

it is amazing how few people that actually know about Dual SIM adapters.
OK they are not 100% perfect but better than carry two phones.
The Dual SIM adapters, allow only to have one running at any time and able to switch between them easily, right?

When you enter a country in EU you get a SMS with costs of voice and SMS costs (but not (yet) data costs). Not knowing the costs sucks. Just curious, where did you have to pay 15 EUR/MB?

I do not remember if it was France or Germany, but if you are not with one of the biggest Pan European operators you do not get great rates in some countries, I have Huhinson Three (3) and they are great in some countries ( where they operate) and totally suck in other ( not in operation).
I do get the data rate info when crossing a boarder, and I DO NEED getting on-line so even though I know it is going to be expensive i need to use it.

Hmm, I get quite good rates everywhere in EU but EU != Europe. For me, Serbia was 400-480 EUR for 30 MB or something. Still figuring it out with my telco, they will give me some kind of deal. You might find those interesting. Ie. Vodafone NL provides option of 75 EUR for 250 MB international.

I _think_ so, yes. For proper dual SIM operations you need a dual SIM phone, not one of those adapters.
