All official-related dates indicate that delivery is goint to start in weeks 44-45 (it's only two weeks from now!!) I would not expect anything to happen before that. I ordered mine in day one and this was already then the estimated timeframe. |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I would like to clear things up for everyone: US phones will be available between oct.19-30 and europe and other countries november 19th thru the 30th. My reasoning is this
from WIki:It was launched at Nokia World on 2 September 2009 and was expected to be released on 27 September 2009 in the United States and on 19 October 2009 in 9 European countries SO as you can see clearly US markets are getting it first, since most of the nov dec dates are coming from euro sources, i suspect i am right. |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
wiki is never wrong
them dates you mention was rumoured dates some one as took them as official and put them wiki, i'd take no notice of them if i was you |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I happen to call Nokia/BrightPoint to make sure my order was good. A guy who i talked to over phone said they plan to ship it next week (week of 10/12).
Since many of "toys" in US start selling on Tuesdays, i am hoping for 10/13. Then again, who knows... :-) |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Is anyone finding it odd that they gave away pre-production n900's at the summit. A blog I visited said they will receive a pre-production unit in a few days. Doesn't that mean they haven't even started manufacturing the ones for the general public? I think it is going to be a while before they are out.
|
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
It might just be that they rather use existing n900s rather then grab a few fresh ones off the press (which would affect shipments..granted I can't imagine how much it would effect it)
|
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
The hardware is already 100% there, so pre-production probably means already produced and software still "buggy" (not made for mass market yet). In all their videos from the summit you can now see N900 on it, rather than N9XX :)

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
That is true since the summit was a planned event and they must of hand to test the manufacturing line on a few hundred phone, why not give them out. I think I am just thinking about it to much. I hope they are through the production and ready to be shipped.
Because i have been told twice now from Nokia USA that no later than two weeks into October. |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
It's probably easier to keep track of pre-production units than retail units when they need to get them back in 6 months. ;)

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I think Nokia missed a big marketing opportunity. Why not look at Apple for things they do well, marketing. A big announcement of a release date or even better the phrase "and all this is shipping starting now".
You may not like Apple, but the do know how to put on a show. And a little "wow" (to quote another campain) would not be bad. I just read an article in the leading German computer magazine c't about Nokia (http://www.heise.de/ct/inhalt/2009/22/84/) and how the want to be a service oriented company. So I will repeat what I sad earlier: please Nokia, talk too us. Give us some news. We are the base making Maemo possible, we are all willing to help, but you need to talk to us. |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Nokia does not give a rat about you and I. They are simply taking their time to avoid HUGE recall down the road. Personally, I'm patiently waiting for them to announce the release date of this N900 device.

It's been the same story with a number of Nokia devices - it gets announced, you hear rumours of release dates, as you get closer you keep checking the dates on various places and they keep moving about. Even when it gets to "release date" you find you can get it on ebay from Hong Kong but not anywhere else. Eventually some weeks/months after you thought you could get it you can buy it through regular channels. Nokia only seems to communicate release information to its channel partners with no thought for end consumers. |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Hello all,
I am new to this forum and I would like to leave my feedback about this device. I think this device will be here this week, next week, or end of October. I believe this because The nokia n97 mini will be in stores on Oct 23 from this website http://www.knowyourmobile.com/blog/3...ease_date.html So that means N900 should come along with it too just like wat Sony did with their Satio Idou. HOPEFULLY ^_^ |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Is there any chance to have a version with 3G in 850? It will really blows here in Brazil, since it will be limiting the choice of the carriers here.

"Just got off the phone with an Amazon customer service representative and I was told Nokia has stated to Amazon the phones will be available last week of Oct." |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I just called amazon:
"The customer service rep said that the item is on pre-order and they do not have the information on when it would be shipped." I said that i was leaving the country soon and i needed a date so that i can decide whether to cancel this order or to order directly from nokia. So she transferred me to the cell phones department where i talked to another lady and she repeated the same. I again reiterated my problem and said that any information if available would be hugely helpful for me. She said she was very sorry as they did not have any information at all to give me. So amazon does not know when they will get the n900's from nokia. |

Why don't each one of us call amazon/nokia/buy.com and ask them and post their response here. That will give some meaning to this thread rather than blank speculation...
