For me buy.com charged me tax for purchase here in California. total would come out close to $600.00

from amazon = no sales tax in CA so total is still $582.00 plus it's amazon so i can rest easy. :P (I ordered from amazon ofc)

Yes, but what is the point of having a bunch of rabid drooling N900 fan's show up in mass numbers and NOT have any N900's on hand to give them? Clearly we're not the sanest bunch around :D

Have none of you heard of patience?

I have moved to a calmer astral plane knowing that I will get an N900 before I die and that I will be content when I get it. I've even stopped talking about the N900 to non-believers.

Like Amazon, buy.com sells some items themselves and acts as a intermediary for a number of small companies. The small companies should have buyer experience ratings. I wouldn't buy from one where buyers have had problems. As far as my own experience, I have bought a number of things from buy.com without any problems but I have never had to use their customer service.

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?

I totally agree with buy.com's customer service, it's almost impossible to get a refund, and it takes forever. It's usually pretty cheap and ships out promptly, but if it was only a ~$25 difference, I would use Amazon over it in a heartbeat.

Are there any apps for the N900 in the Ovi store yet?

I heard that by the time it will ship, there will be some apps...

Ovi is coming soon..

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?

Oh yeah, i know about the maemo, nokia ones (thanks), but from the Maemo Summit in an interview, he said that ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzNbPAgcHMw ) that when the device ships, there will be ovi store applications available.

That may be a good indicator if it is going to be released soon...

Yeah buy.com have basically screwed up every order I have ever placed with them (3 to date and thats 3 strikes and you are out).Last order they shipped me a monitor - was broken, called for an RMA to return it. Then got a notice of a new monitor order having been placed. They charged my card AGAIN. I called and said hey I dont want it cancel it, only to be told that sales support couldnt cancel and order placed from their RMA dept. Had to ship back the old one - then receive the new one and then they had the balls to try charge me for the shipping to return that one.

NEVER AGAIN!!

I've bought items from Buy.com before with no problem. Products were 100% as described with no faults. But, I have heard about their poor customer service. So while I did buy my n800 from them I won't be buying my n900 from them.

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?

eh, i no they got poor customr services now, they told me two different dates which are kinda off the wall, so i knwo the true date is between
19th to 30th of october and ill just have to trust my sources

Ummm.... in the first video as the phone is turning down, look at the bottom of the screen on the phone--are those scratches??????

I'm certainly not turning the phone on when I get it, till my screen protectors get here.

FYI for you all, got an email from InvisiShield ( one of my fraternity brothers is the CFO and I asked him a while back if he could see about doing something ) stating they are currently working on a full body shield for the N900 and should hopefully have it released within the next three weeks or so. If they get this out within that time frame they'll get allot of business solely based on the fact that their aren't that many protections for the N900.

This phone is too beautiful to cover up with hard cases imo...so the full body shield plus a carrying case= uberness

If your SIP is Gizmo5, just enter your GV number on the Gizmo web page and it is automatic. Of course, I am using an N810. I know nothing about the N900...

I sent it to you via PM at this forum rather than email. Check your inbox. If you don't use it for some reason, please tell me.

BTW, I only have 1 invite left, so I will not be giving that one away yet. I'll save it for a really good use... maybe a Maemo developer or someone like that.

Ah, I did my undergrad at Maryland, and am currently doing my masters at Catholic University. I want to get my PhD eventually, though I'll probably go from my part-time work at the Census to full time and then hopefully will be approved for their higher education benefits program.

On a sidenote: Anyone know when Amazon's pre-order sale will end? Or anyone have an inkling? Apparantly the TMobile info will be up around the 25th..and I really don't wanna miss out on the pre-order deal if Amazon has the better deal.

hi everybody

i watched this thread for a while.
Just registered to tell you that a few shops here in germany now say they got a few phones in stock.
My online shops says "shipped within 3-5 days"
(last week they told me that they will get the phones from there distributor on 20th of october)

so, i hope i'll get mine on wednesday

OK, the truth is out there I'll call tomorrow and ask directly....

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?

Okay this is getting serious now, I had a dream about the N900 this morning!

I dreamt that when it finally came out the screen was actually recessed and the touch screen far too sensitive so it was almost impossible to use, I kept selecting the wrong things.

I then grabbed a pre-production unit and confronted [some guy] from Nokia (who just happened to be in the next room) telling them how I much preferred the earlier units design than the final one, showing him the difference between them (I had both my retail unit and the pre-production one in my hands). But when I looked down I then noticed I wasn't holding an N900 pre-production unit but a different model entirely that also had a recessed screen, yet the Nokia guy agreed that he preferred the flush screen of the pre-production unit too.

I then went frantically looking trying to find the REAL pre-production N900 and came to the conclusion someone stole it. I then woke up and came on here to post my freaky dream.

Now what does all this say about MY sanity?

@mak, sonicer
When you talk to the call center they only tell you that they have "a few" in stock, then you order and get an email "Sorry, others were faster. Time to wait for next delivery: 10-14 days" ;-)
I stay with my current preorder and will only switch when the known good online shops here in Germany (amazon, t-online, alternate, technikdirekt et. al.) have it in stock ealier.

Bye

Thorsten

Thorsten

i already switched my order last week.
so my currently online shop told me last week via mail and yesterday via letter that the phone will arrive them on the 20th of october (43KW).
so, i'm already a little bit sceptical but i think they told me the correct date
