I'm debating whether I should hold him to it. Maybe I've lost hope or I'm just being realistic, but my guess is that my preorder won't ship till at least the 30th.

As i spoke to the Nokia care NL she told me again it was end of october, begin november. But when the phones would come in, everyone would get one almost right away.

I am gonna have to get 20 banana's ready... ;-(

I'm new to this board and here because I've preordered the N900 as well. My reseller is shifting the delivery date so often - because he simply gets no answer from Nokia.

I don't want a Fort-Knox-Only-Steve-Approve-Software Telephone (Despite using MAC-OSX...) and I love the idea to have a multithreaded root-shell linux phone! So I'm not a maemo addict by now.
I want to get rid off my old E61. And I'm now waiting for months! Hey Nokia Guys, the E97 was no revelation - thats why I still have my E61.
Give us some Info - otherwise I get evil and buy an android!

Move guys (if you wanna get my money)!

Hello everybody,

I am new in this forum. Like many of you I am also waiting for N900.

It is so irritating that we have so many videos and reviews of N900 but the fixed release date is pushing forward :mad:. Nokia Germany had the 12th October release date and now that is 30th Oct. :eek:

I don't know why it is delaying but as a consumer when they (Nokia) gives a date then I wait for that date and I want to have N900 as soon as possible and I don't want to know any excuse for delaying (one or two days more or less is acceptable but not weeks and weeks).

My current phone is about to die and I am waiting for N900 for more than one and half months. In November I am flying away for a month and I want to get new phone with me where I can work/use it. With anticipation I am waiting for N900 and if it is not coming on given date now (i.e. 30th October) then I could choose for alternatives. So I hope we will not be disappointed with this date and it is final.

The date for the UK is still set at 'possibly november'. I wonder why it's so unspecific. I mean, sure, the SW wasn't finalised a few weeks ago, but it was obviously getting towards a finished state as they have been able to give units out.

(I'm not advocating a conspiracy theory, I'm just dying to get my hands on one. :D)

Not that I'm going to defend them changing the ship date without a reason (if they actually did that, I'm not German so I wouldn't know - they've not given any actual date in the UK), but problems do crop up.

I'd personally rather have a properly finished unit than one with half assed problems, so while I'm in dire need for a new phone, I'm happy to wait while they iron it out. :)

Nokia Store in Finland has just posted information about the delivery and recommends to make sure there are funds in our cards soon. Delivery should start at end of week 44 or at beginning of week 45, more precise dates will be announced hopefully by the end of this week...

I just received a message from German onlineshop Temeon,
telling me that they had to cancel my order. The reason is:

"unser Lieferant teilte uns heute mit, dass das Handy vom Hersteller nicht mehr geliefert wird"

translation: our supplier told us today that the N900 will be no longer by shipped by the manufacturer.

WTF?

Where do nokia ship from and with which courier?
Because why does it take 3-5 to ship it? 3-5 days is from Asia / US to europe?

Nokia sees now that it should skip the N900 altogether and release the N912½ with compass, hair cutting app and deliver it last month.

Just now got insider info that this N900 will be shipped only in the 51st week!! Now U get why they named it RX-51, right??

@titan Could it be that nokia focuses on their own online store and bigger stores like amazon.de? Probably amazon said: We habe 10000 preorders you have to send us more units.

My pre-ordered N97 was shipped from some logistics hub in Holland via Germany using UPS. That particular phone was manifactured in Salo just 50km from where I live. Long live the logistical system. :)
I expect my N900 to do the same trip.

The N900 is not manufactured in Salo though. It's in China or Korea, I forget which.

I'm sure the only official press confirmation we had was available from October in select markets.

No actual definition of what the select markets are and also "from October" is about as vague as you can get.
Now I've actually taken some valium (good for back pain), I've pretty much accepted that if I get the thing before the end of the year I'll be lucky and if in November it will be a miracle.

(this way I'm not likely to get continually depressed)

Yes, Nokia never said something else than October in selected markets which might be Germany, UK and Italy. My only concern was that it moved from the 1st to the 30st. But as long it arrived in this month i will be happy.

That was probably the hardest challenge in waiting i ever had in my life. I believe that will be worth it.

Who said so? Official statement can be found where? When preordering was open, mid october was the date, which then got pushed to around Oct. 30th.

I've just called Nokia Spain and they've told me they were told that the phone must be shipped in Q4, probably end october - firt november, but is perfectly posible that the shippment can be delayed until end of the year because all the dates are simple estimates.
