Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Hi,
Nokia told me about two weeks from now in the UK (mid October) I want it now :-) |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Well I ordered mine on 02/09/2009 14:52 CET still with the same status
"This order has not shipped." The only information that I've seen from Nokia (Peter@maemomarketing) is that it will ship from select markets from October. This means that some people in Germany and Italy may get this from October onwards. (as these were the defined "select" markets I think) The UK Nokia website states "Tentative delivery date: November 2009. " So all we really know is that it should ship sometime, we don't even know for certain whether this is this year or next year. Whilst I think next year is unlikely, we just have to painfully wait with no idea when the product will actually ship. Obviously I'm hoping to get mine soon, but not got a clue when :-( |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Just ordered mine from my local box shifters. Delivery said to be around the middle of November.

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Hey
A Danish Telephone company called CallMe, have now got it on their site. They are saying 30.October sadly :( From Kehaan. |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I just got off the phone with Nokia (Spain) and they told me that my N900 will be shipping starting the 19th of October, they said that since it's not guaranteed that it's subject to change, until the end of october or the first week of November. But they're current shipping date for pre-orders are the second fortnight of October.
Only 2 more weeks of waiting ... to wait up to another 2 weeks. LOL. |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Got an email from Amazon USA reminding me for my pre-order that the phone does not work for AT&T 3G. Nothing about shipping
|
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I called a phone shop here in the Netherlands and the guy saw in their system that it's expected in week 43/43 (19 okt - 1 nov).

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
This lack of communication from Nokia is really starting to fudge me off. This is no damn way to run a company, especially when we are paying premium prices for the phone.

Ditto. Good thing I'm on T-Mobile's 3G. |

Not that that is a helpful comment, but essentially we are all in the same boat. I just hope the device is as good as it looks, in which case I'm prepared to put up with it, as it's not like there is currently an alternative for me (a few that are close, but not close enough) |

There was an official press release sayin something along the lines of 'mid october release', wasn't it? |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
@Bratag: Right, the official line is that they'll have it available in mid oct, and that's still 2 weeks away. None of the big boys respond to street rumors afaik and they don't email each customers on daily basis to let them know about the latest ETA either.
You can b*tch when it's passed Oct 20th and there's still no official update. Til then, let's just sit tight and be reasonable. |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I don't actually mind waiting. What I hate is the fact that we are left to speculate because Nokia simply will not come out and give us an official release date. Lets assume we are still on track for Mid Oct. Thats less than 2 weeks away and we STILL dot have a release date. That just strikes me as BS hedging so they can change the date and claim "Well we never gave an OFFICIAL date"

Let's just wait and see. I'm not happy with it either, but I do not find it beyond reason. I was hoping to have it before I departed for Spain this weekend, but c'est la vie. |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
It's a semi experimental device.. it's no N97 (in terms of OS track record, captive market and general maturity).. we've been hearing of mixed accounts of problems with different stages of the prototypes (the ones given out to various reviewers).
Just give em time and give yourself a slack. I know how we can be impatient when we're all hungry.. but don't blame the cook for not following our own timetable when they're trying to make the best in the kitchen :) |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Pah, you young'uns ain't seen nothin'. Some of us here are old enough to remember waiting for our Sinclair ZX81s and Spectrums to arrive. The tales I could tell about "28-day delivery" ...
Just let me fetch me liniment and I'll tell ye all about it ... |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Using twitter and whatever is not the kind of professional behavior I expect from a serious organization like Nokia.
They should have an 'official' delivery estimation on their N900 product page, below the preorder button. They should email updates to their preorder customers - Amazon can manage to do this. Although I think the world of Nokia and their superb technology, the failure here is one of poor management of customer expectations. |

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I guess it's just not available yet, but wouldn't it be nice to have the manual to read while we wait!
WooHoo! Just saw the manual Post after I read this thread. It's like the Nordic Gods granted my wish immediately! I'm instantly converted! |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
A user called ceroberts75 had his credit card charged today for the full amount today by brightpoint.

I'm a slow reader, so by the time I finish digesting the manual maybe my N900 will have arrived ;)

Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
I feel bad for the folks going to Amsterdam for the summit - it's a total fustercluck that they won't have their devices to play along with. In fact, it puts such a dent in the experience I'd probably cancel.

It looks like you just recently joined the forum so I can understand you not knowing certain things. People expecting tablets to be released before the summit were setting themselves up for disappointment. Nokia said shipping in mid october in select markets at Nokia World and until that doesn't happen you shouldn't overreact. As for IM protocols maemo can do pretty much every IM protocol and there is community work being done on facebook, twitter etc plugins with release date in the next month or so. |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
So they intentionally booked the summit before people would have their devices? How backasswards ;)
Yes, I'm a new member, but I've observed from afar for some time. i made the jump as soon as I ordered my N900....I'm committed to developing software for this platform :) |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
Oh the poor folks who get to go to Amsterdam and play with the demo N900s that they will have available. You're right to feel sorry for them.
;) |
Re: Did Your N900 Ship Today?
If I'm hauling my arse several thousand miles, I don't want to be timesharing some greasy monkey-fingered demo device. Sure, people make the best of the situation, and it'll be nice to meet folks, but still....it reeks of shabby organization to me.
But WTF, I'm not going anyway....Amsterdam is a cool place - be sure to ask for the 'special' menu in the coffee shop ;) |

$582.99 (Amazon price with free shipping) + $34.98 (6% sales tax) = $617.97 I'd only pay $582.99 on the purchase now though, as Amazon doesn't collect Pennsylvania sales tax. When I pay my state income tax at the end of the year, there's an accompanying form upon which I can report all the online purchases I've made so I can calculate and pay sales tax on them. Ahem. |
