Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle
Using "Never" would match the phone's internal data counters as well, so I suggest it.

Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle
The new version (in Extras-Devel) works perfect, and has all the cosmetic bugs from the previous post fixed - thanks :)
One very, very small nitpick: It would be nice if you could provide some visual feedback (lighting up with a blue background just like the contacts and web bookmarks?) so that the user knows when his/her touch has been registered. Alternatively (or additionally?) hide the values for a very short amount of time after the touch and then re-show them. This way, the user will know that the widget has received the click and updated the values even if the values themselves don't change. Edit: Oh, and hiding the values and re-showing them will make it obvious to the user that the widget refreshes on touch, which should make it possible to remove the "The widget will always refresh when you press it" label in the settings dialog. Right now, users can't really be sure if the applet has been updated on a touch or if it has frozen/crashed, as there is no visual feedback of the touch. |
Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle
Good ideas. It's little things like this that separate great apps/widgets from the merely good.

Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle
Thomas - I will try adding some sort of feedback that a press has been registered. I was playing around with doing it on button-press-event and having it revert to normal on button-release-event, but this doesn't work out as there are instances where the release event would not occur (if the user dragged his/her finger off the applet during the event).
I think I will have the effect show on button-press-event and timeout after a short time. Thanks |

Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle
Okay, 0.4-2 is in the autobuilder queue (for whenever the builder comes back up). This version just adds a visual feedback when pressing the applet. It will change the background to the "Selected" color when pressing, switching back to default when released.
I think it works well, and it should follow the theme selected. We will see when it hits extras-devel. |

My shot. - Widget should use as much place as it is supposed to use. - Widget should contain as little disturbing elements as possible So, since this widget does one small (but really handy) peice of functionality - remove the title and icon, they are senseless in this case. They will just add more graphical noise to the desktop. Replace "download" and "upload" with simple small icons - it will make your widget international and save the space without sacrificing functionality. That's all :) |
Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle
Quick update:
Since we still have to follow Widget Gudelines - both monitor and IP have to have same width as other widgets. So: http://s47.radikal.ru/i118/0910/7d/c3f33a1d72bc.png |
Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle
