Lucky you! You may even be able to get the rebate if you trust your friend with money.

I'm hoping that some canadian retailer carries the unit soon, or I'll have to order the unit via friends/family as well.

}:^)~

Amazon.com doesn't ship the N900 to Canada it seems.

There is an option of having it shipped to a UPS store near the border in the US. Once it arrives you would have to go pick it up. The cost is something like $20 for this service.

I've dealt with Expansys before. They're expensive, but there's no border hassles nor are there any extra "brokerage" courier charges.

I have read this forum for years and came to rely on some good advice from technut -- who has left us and been replaced by qole.
So yesterday at 2pm I ordered from Expansys.ca. MasterCard refused the charge. I phoned MC, approved the charge, and phoned Expansys.ca at 4:45. The beast did not stop moving from Illinois -> Memphis -> Mississauga-> Don Mills -> my doorstep at 10am today. The phone calls to Expansys were answered on the first ring! If I consider my time and equanimity, the price was a bargain.

(( and qole remains on my short list to read carefully; that list began with technut, flegg (now jaffa), milhouse, Karel J ... Their contributions are very much appreciated.))

I ordered from http://www.ca-united.com, there are coupons can be found, just look around, so end up about less than $700 total and good thing is it ships in local Canada, takes 1 day if pay for the overnight. (expensive!)

Well, forget one thing, 3G data doesn't work! (I live in BC) So all our guys live in Canada must think twice. I just upgrade my N810, so, on EDGE is better than nothing anyway... :D
