I've had screen protectors on the 770 and N800 since day one, and I believe they were needed on those. I actually also bought one for the N810 but was too lazy to install it before I started using it, and never got around to do it afterwards.

After almost two years of heavy stylus use, the screen surface is still, literally, good as new. I just always carry it in its pouch between uses, is all.

I sure hope the N900 is at least as good.

The N900's screen is even better at resisting scratches.

Re: Scratches on Screen

I don't think so. There is a small part of great preview found on my-symbian.com:

"The only thing that worries me when it comes to N900 display is its resistence to scratches and other damages. And it seems to be lower than expected. I got the device without any protective case and the display got some awful scratches in just one day, and that's only because some sand grains got into the pocket I kept it in. Maybe it is just a coincidence and the same would happen to any other device, but a good screen protector or soft carrying case are recommended, just in case. "

I don't wanna try myself if it's true or not. When my device will come to me the first thing I'll do (before first start) will be removing of original black protector and installation screen protector. Hough.

As I said earlier in this thread, I've had my N900 for a month or so already and constantly carry it in my pocket. Not a single scratch on it whatsoever.

Lucky you. But I tought the same about 5800 and when I saw a little scratches on my screen made by stylus I was shocked. And now I don't want to be a "guinea pig".

I'm willing to discount the my-symbian preview, as that might have been early hardware, but presumably Ariane has the final hardware and that one scratched, even after careful use. I'll be getting a screen protector, for sure.

That's actually how my N810 got scratched. Luckily enough it was just a small one in the corner.

Re: Scratches on Screen

I am using full body invisibleSHIELD from ZAGG and I am very satisfied from it.

I inatalled only front and back sides, but without the small pieces, which should be placed around the n900.

N900 looks good and also the back cover makes better grip in your hand.
Also found that there is much less fingertips on the display in comparison without the shield.

Regards.

Re: Scratches on Screen

I'm surprised noone has linked the N900 scratch test yet.

It is a bit insane, but the results speak for themselves. And also, the video is very funny.
(He was able to scratch the screen with a coin, and very seriously scratch it with keys, however it took some effort.)
