Thats the point...

The package is the same and all pinouts seem to match up but as to replace it i would hazard a guess and say yes it certainly IS possible especially as the overclocking routines will take care of the voltage differences BUT i would not do it thats for sure.

I am sure someone will though !.

No one will do it, because it's a stupid idea.

Looking at both data sheets on the 3430 and 3630 they are identical pin out wise and size wise, if i look deeper into this then hell its worth a try given the fact you got a 3630 in your hands as it will only take seconds to swap.

And all the data will be in the right places thats for sure so it is only a matter of trying and see.

I'm ready to offer one of my three N900's for testing, this is the N900 spirit, all to science!

I think it's a stupid idea, unless you're doing it to an already broken N900 (where the CPU has been trashed and everything else is fine) and you don't have a chance at getting it repaired through Nokia Care. So sure, if it's otherwise dead and it's because you've destroyed the device from OC'ing, do it.

There are plenty of people that would spend good money buying them off you, especially rather than see you destroy them with this stupid idea. There are no more N900s being made and a lot of us would really like to keep them for as long as we can.

Sell yours, don't do something as stupid as what is beingn proposed here.

Good, then may be possible...

Let's try it

That price will be old hat by now and there are many companies that will sell you the device but you obviously cannot get from the manufacturer.

Still a single valid link needed. I don't want a Die photo for USD200, not a report for USD5000

RESPECT, you checked what? 960 pins, of TWO chips, incl their particular electrical and timing specs and semantics, in less than 30 minutes. Damn you HAVE TO BE the smartest greatest EE I ever heard of.

OT but well: CBA to get the link right now, but I can't help I have to call you out on your claim of "hostmode will NEVER work without hardware mods. I know because I did those" (OWTTE). Please appreciate h-e-n is working now, and that's a FACT - without ANY hw mod.
