Do you guys find that leaving ur internet connection on with an im protocol signed in for the whole day significantly reduces battery life? or is it just me? lol

Using 2G only I'd say I get a maximum of 3 hours from full charge to empty, once I leave IM runnin with my 2G connection so basically 3 hours of continuous use web browsing etc. It is interesting to note that leaving the network connection off, I can get some pretty good battery life (6 hours+ or so)

This shouldn't be like that. I'm using Skype on 2G/3G, Wi-FI on, BT on and I get more than 8 hours if the phone is mostly idle. Perhaps your IM plugin is the cause for that. What IM plugin are you using?

ah explain that 8 hours idle. can you use the phone for 8 hours?
I can only get 3 hours or so of active usage msn + web browsing.
bt and wifi off only 2g.

I am using haze via http method.

That is a stupidly short battery life.

I can see why some of the reviews marked this phone down as soon as they saw the battery.

Same battery as a 5800 and the N900 is probably at least twice as powerful and resource hungry............

Smart.

Ok so just did an informal test today. Brightness at 2, no widgets except for the data usage one - set to only update when I change page, no wifi/no autoscan, no bt, no gps, only gsm with 2g connected.

I am using the latest version of haze from the repos and only stay connected to via 2G

At 3:40 PM fuly charged with 97% from xterminal

By 8:17 pm I had done the following about 8 minutes of IM (msn) chatting, 5 minutes of phone calls, 5 minutes sending sms, browsed the internet for 10 minutes or so. Xterminal shows 39% charge.

Is this normal, I know the battery life isn't the greatest but I find this super low, cannot get through a regular day like this, not even 5 hours and the level is already falling below 50% wow. Any advice as to what I can check, disabled pretty much all the widgets and only have 3 screens with a few bookmark thumbnails.

I do notice with haze (msn only) running and 2g connected the phone does feel warmer than when it isn't running, is this normal?

I suspect the Haze, Butterfly, and other plugins are suspect. Maybe it has to do with how they connect (maybe they need to stay in contact more often to the server or something)

Anyone else have problems connecting to AIM? I haven't been able to connect to the server that last couple of days.

Thats right, since the last update you can't connect to AIM/ICQ. You can downgrade to the last version or stay tuned for a new update
