Use just Pidgin protocols plugin for everything except MSN (Haze) accounts ... and use only MSN Pecan for msn accounts...

in that way ... no more errors on any network (gprs or wifi) no more unable to login... no more random logouts from any account...

i am using 2 msn pecan accounts... and facebook and skype with pidgin protocols plugin ...

and one twitter account with the twitter plugin...

all logged at the same time no problems at all

try it ...

cya!

Well even though that combo works, the biggest problem with that for me is that MSN Pecan does not support video calling (which so far on MSN butterfly does).

Another bug I forgot to mention is that every time pecan has to reconnect, it resets your screen name to your hotmail/live address.

That's coming from tp-haze (which is not even able to set the screen name), due to a limitation in libpurple; see this bug.

Anyway, I just fixed this in msn-pecan 0.1.0~rc3-0maemo2.

There are plenty of features, AFAIK the only two features that maemo users want and are missing are:
  • Videochat support
  • Multiple logins

Those will take time to implement, but in the meantime you can vote for them on the issue tracker.

This issue is solved in msn-pecan.

Anyone tried to install pidgin 2.6.5? I ve downloaded the compressed file, extracted it but it has only source files inside. It needs building or something like that to make a ready package for install. Any idea?

MSN Butterfly already support Video chat/call so why it cannnot be implemented in Pecan/Haze ?

Hi all...ive been reading the forum since getting my N900 and have enjoyed my experience with the device so far until today...the problem is the intergrated im client...before today it was working fine running Ovi,Skype,MSN Pecan and facebook all at once with minimal problems...for some reason i unistalled the pidgin protocol plugin for contacts and conversations to make way for the extra protocol plugin for contacts and conversations...since doing this i cannot get facebook to connect...it now always dispays authentication failed in 'My Availability'...i realise now that i should not of touched it and left the plugin as it was...im a newbie to posting on here but would very much like some help...all other im services work fine...if i register another different fb account it works fine but just not on mine..thanks

Re: [Maemo 5] Instant Messaging (IM) Client? AIM, GTalk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN, Yahoo, etc.

I'm currently using skype, gtalk, msn presence awareness (with ovi, facebook, twitter disabled).

Since
* facebook is likely to allow public xmpp access soon
* there are already some tiwtter xmpp gateways
* there is some suggestion XMPP is more efficient

I'm toying with the idea of "consolidating" many of these accounts via XMPP.

I have a free account at xmpp.org.uk, and can configure the MSN transport easily via the "psi" client, but I'm wondering
* what are good/well known transports? Or a different xmpp server
* Can I easily add gtalk transport to the above server to save creating a second xmpp account? (or do I have to just readd contacts individually?)

I'm also thinking
* xmpp won't support audio/video (I think the protocol does -- but what about public servers)
* so will keep skype independent
* The inclusion of the physical gateway rather than just a service alias in the buddy address gets tedious with respect to the merged address book

Anyone else thinking about consolidating down to XMPP?
