Same here. They just don't say what to expect/do for those who ordered a month ago :-)

I got the message too, but I already ordered weeks ago, when I could see the N900 in the list of devices (refresh the page and all that, if you remember). Presumably everything is in order then? No need to (re-)order?

debernardis 2009-12-08 13:05

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

They say my order is complete and shipped, allelujah! Openoffice.org you're going to be 0wnd soon :)

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

They sent that mail to all users of DDP nevermind did you ordered or not.

It is probably their way to refresh "next week" cycle ;D

Go to Forum Nokia, Login, Premium Services, eStore, My Account, My Orders, click on your order number for details - should show a status of "Completed" and a "Date Shipped" of today.

If you mean some other post, please mention it. I am not prepared to throw myself at the feet of some demigod and beg for mercy, even if he has announced he is the merciful type. If my device doesn't work I want the right to replacement. If Quim announced that he would make sure that no one would be screwed by the lack of a warranty, and that was a promise, I didn't see that. I saw something that said he was NOT PROMISING ANYTHING. Did you see something else?

Edit: To make sure, I looked up Quim's last post. For your convenience, here it is:

"look, we'll just do our best on an individual basis, but we can't make any promises"

Do you think I summarized it adequately?

Different "My Account".
Go to "Premium Services" > "eStore" (on second title bar) > then "My Account" (at top of page).

This should then take you to the:
"Forum Nokia Developer Programs Member Profile" page.
Look for "My Orders >>" under "Member Data" sub "eStore"...

Mine shows my order and reciept from November 09 but no update yet. ???

...and Texrat, maybe you should have started a new thread under "Ripping scabs from old wounds" or somethin' :p

Hyperlink: https://pro.forum.nokia.com/getUserServiceOrders.do (Because the Nav looked different for me and it took me like 5 minutes to find it...)

Yep, mine has been listed as "Critical" since November 10
Maybe now we will be upgraded to "Intensive Care". :D

Sorry, after logging in you need to go to Premium Services then eStore, THEN "My Account". Trust Nokia to have two "My Account" links on one site which mean totally different things...

I've just received the DHL tracking number... (extatic) :)

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Thanks, got it - the original 'My Account' would only show me a profile update page. Going to pro I had to login again (which it did just by clicking login), and via My Account there I found it. Not yet shipped though.

Hrw: does your order at the e-store show "shipped"?

I'm wondering if the N900 is just going to start showing up on surprised people's doorsteps...

Hrw 2009-12-08 18:28

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Yes, it was shipped and order page lists it as shipped with DHL and tracking number is provided. Same informations were also sent to me by mails - one from Nokia Forum stating that device was shipped and second from DDP with information about DHL package and link to tracking.

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

I'ts good to hear that they're shipping, and I'm excited for all of you. You probably deserve it and I hope it serves its purpose well. But I'm still on the fence because of the warranty issue. And only that issue.

I agree with geneven. We're talking about 200 devices at the most; possibly more like 50. It would cost Nokia close to nothing to give the DDP a proper warranty.

I too think qgil is a stand-up guy, but "take it or live it" or informal promises should only apply to auction sites and/or 3rd-party free software, not new hardware purchases, regardless of the program. Or maybe unconsciously the Nokia higher-ups just want to see which of us are real fan boys and girls, but I thought we already demonstrated that? Well, I'm not sure if I am or not. I thought I was, but thankfully I won't have to wait much longer to find out!

johnkzin 2009-12-08 20:53

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

I can understand being wary of the warranty situation. I fully believe in Quim, and that he'll do his best to make it right. But it may be out of his control, depending on the exact circumstances.

What I really wish is that T-Mobile USA was going to carry it. I'd put it on the 20 month installment program in a heart beat.

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Just got device from DHL courier. What is inside:

- N900
- battery
- nokia charger (thick or thin) -> microusb adapter (CA-146C)
- nokia charger with microusb connector (AC-10E) 1200mA
- usb->microusb cable (CA-101)
- audio/video out cable (CA-75U)
- wired headset (WH-205)

What surprised me was lack of printed user guide but I think that this is due to 'we recycle' slogan on a box so will dig for PDF on device.

And box does not have any 'not for resale' texts which Quim told that will be.

The printed guide is in there - it's black and lying at the bottom of the black box so you might not see it first time! :)

Bit of a shame the USB charger is a US 2-pin affair - will have to buy myself a UK replacement (not complaining really) or maybe a shaving adapter. Then again I've got a few spare Nokia 2mm chargers so could use one of those and the handy adapter.

Hopefully these DDP devices don't suffer from the reboot problem (assuming it's a hardware related issue) - I'm not putting any new software on the device for the first few days until I've confirmed it's a keeper and everything is in working order!

Because of the limited number of available applications, the N900 isn’t recommended for an average consumer. The device is elegantly designed, but it doesn’t have that Apple finesse, or Android’s connectivity. What it does have is potential, which is largely untapped because the phone and OS are both so new. It needs a team of power users to make that potential turn into a go-to platform.
That^ from a recent review...

Maybe we're ready now.
I'm looking forward to the contributions that I'm sure will come. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...rinking-43.gif
