No they tried to add the N900, but they got an NULL reference instead as it is still not available for sale :D

I just wish they sent a confirmation, you know, a 'we got your letter, we're working on it' or sorts...

I have no idea about their current availability of devices and whether they can satisfy the demand before sales start. Thank you for your patience.

Note to self : learn from the professionals. When pressed for a date, always leave an escape hatch by omitting some detail : year, month, or week... depending on the circumstances :-)

I didn't get the question sorry...

You're talking about passing your loaned device to someone else?
In this case probably whoever gets it needs to sign the loan agreement and probably Nokia should prepare a new document where it states that you don't have it anymore..

Hey, the default English keyboard is just fine with me: after all, it is one of the few that have still got all four arrow keys :)

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Apparently, the devices will sport only the international keyboard:

Hello Ernesto,

Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately it is not possible to have N900 with Italian keyboard.
We can only provide euro1 phones as the only option in our services.
All our phone models are the same.

Of course we can send your feedback further on and hopefully someday our service can enlargen the option.

FWIW,

looks like they're processing them now.. I got an email stating they couldn't find my ID and asked me to fill in some form (I probably missed it before).

Ernesto, the Italian layout is useless anyway :D
For accented letters just use something like : a' e' i' o' u'
:)

I'll try to hack something though. Maybe some kind of daemon which automagically changes a' in à, e' in è and so on... (except when in xterm of course).

Just tried switching to ITA layout, you do get some accented letters, but I only found e,i,o...
So, useless...

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

I only read the first couple of pages of this so apologies if it's already been mentioned.

What Nokia really needs is some sort of way for developers to obtain final/near final hardware before the consumer release. I'm sure this is already possible if you're a large company with various agreements with Nokia but the development market has changed significantly towards smaller players. Cheaper hardware etc in return for contributions and such is nice but in reality nobody is going to do it just for that.

This is a bit of problem with any of the Fn symbols, since the spanish layout has every one of them changed. So I guess I'll just do a "pseudo" english-spanish layout or something like that.

Haven't got any email yet. I'm not sure if the forum reg. worked correctly. I registered with the link provided and filled in the form in the other link, and now whenever I click that link I get in as the ID I selected. However, if I just go to to forum.nokia.com and try to log in as that ID it fails.

They sent me this link to fill in a form to register for a free company account:

Login with your password and fill it in, maybe it'll help them.

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Today I have received reply to question I asked 17 October with apologies for the late reply. So they are aware we noticed they are lagging.

The delay for confirmation may also be related to the general delay of N900.

I don't mind the delays of Nokia N900 product release, I just want to order and pay my device so my part of the sale is finalized, because I've also been asked to confirm a pre-order.

That the device is then shipped 1 November or 30 November I don't mind much. I know Nokia won't pull a Pandora by claiming they'll ship on Novembre 31. ;)

(On an unrelated note, Nokia suing Apple, Mozilla Fennec on Maemo, Nokia delaying N900 have been reported extensively in news past days.)

jandmdickerson got a phishing e-mail!

Did they say that the n900 was "enabled on your account" if you logged in to a special web page to confirm your password and bank information?

See email pasted below.

Hi John,

thank you for your email.
N900 is enable to your account.
We will inform by email once the device is available in our service after which you can fill in the order.
That should be very soon.

Hmm, I signed up and sent my request per Quim just yesterday, and today I received:

Hello Gerald,

Thanks for your email.
We have enabled the service to you now and we'll send you an email once the device is available.

(I didn't brush my hair first or do anything like that before sending, but I did tell the recipient, whoever she would be, if she would be a she, since I didn't yet know it was specifically Nora, that I was certain she was very attractive and that in order to please her I had recently given up smoking. Perhaps that's why I heard back so promptly?)

Does this mean that all mails sent on the same Friday Quim gave the signal have been lost, and we should re-send them ? :-)

qole 2009-10-27 18:13

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Maybe they send you that mail if you hassle them. After all, it is a gentle request to be patient and wait for their e-mail "once the device is available."

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Well, if so, a simple acknowledgement (as in, "we got your mail, just sit tight till you get our next one") would have saved everybody a lot of teeth-gnashing and hair-pulling... :-)

Agreed, did the mail get caught in the spam filter somewhere? Was the username accepted? Closed loop feedback. Makes the world go around (or at least my world).

This means what? Does it advance the subject any? The feeling I'm getting from some of the recent posts in this thread is that there are people like myself who are afraid they that either they:

-Did not understand the instructions and responded incorrectly.

-Or, for whatever reason, were not on the list that maemo.org provided or have since been determined to have not met the requirements.

Perhaps we were not verbose enough in our replies and did not establish a rapport with "Nora" or whoever. Or as I hope, this is not a normal duty for those assigned to verify this information and they are doing it as they can while maintaining their "normal" pre launch work load.

I know I do not want to be a PITA to the people responsible for this benefit as I'm sure they have their hands full this close to the launch.

Can you as a Council member help us out with some useful info here?

That N75 on the eStore is starting to look mighty tempting... ;)

Some sort of feedback would be nice - like YoDude I have no idea if the details I submitted in the email were satisfactory, or if the email was received at all.
