Re: Proposal: To include some Core Members with low Karma in Dev Program
Quim and Council -- Thanks for all the hard work. As stated in another post -- I am willing to do the leg work on the list. Here is the list from Maemo/download of devs that have < 200 Karma.
Please note if there was zero downloads and older I didn't bother adding them to the list. some of these have really high download counts. Some authors actually did multiple apps; but I only listed the first app I came across of that author. ---- Adam Harwell & Jonas Hurrelmann - Advanced Backlight Control Pavel Fialko - Other Weather Control Pauli Virtanen - Gutenbrowse v0.1.1 Denes Matetelki - Give Vladislav Grinchenko - Granule/Flashcards Glen Ditchfield - Battle for Westfield Sami Kyöstilä - N-Speed Terrence Fleury - X-Word Enrique Ocaña González - Gtk Shishen Sho Mahjongg Luca De Cicco - GPE Sudoku Sergio Melas - SuperTux (199 Karma) Andrew Godwin - OpenTTD Wilson Tang - Pokerth Joni Kokko - Pool for maemo Toni Nichev - Rescue 1 Jiri Benc - Fred Paul Mangan - Claws Mail Ricardo Mones - Claws Mail George Kibardin - Feed Circuit Andrew Sichevoi - Conler Eero af Heurlin - Maemo Plazer dik - Zapys Renato Chencarek - Canola Koos Vriezen - KMPlayer Marko Nykanen - Maemo Recorder Jari Tenhunen - Maemo Recorder mihai iancu - MyTube Olivier ROLAND - Streamtuner Pavel Rojtberg - YouAmp Arto Karppinen - Irreco Harri Vattulainen - Irreco Pekka Gehör - Irreco Joni Kokko - Irreco Sami Mäki - Irreco Josep Torra - Tuner Tool Nick Nobody - Panucci Benoit Goudreault-Emond - CbrPager Riku Pelander - Mythetomer Ivan Gagis - Theremin Sanna Salmijärvi - GPS Camera Holger Macht - Maemo Music Player Client Sampath Jagannathan - Boxar Thibault Lamy - MCEGuru Ricky Brent - Comix Owen Williams - Sonata MPD Client Tomas Brandysky - Linux Kiss Server Dariusz Wiechecki - mDictionary Luca Ognibene - Home Bank Patrick Ohly - SyncEvolution Boris Tobotras - NoTap Magnus Kulke - Xarchiver Wellu Mäkinen - Speedometer lauren roberts - Mgcal Igor Tkach - Sdict Viewer Rob Williams - Flip Clock Willem-Jan de Hoog - Gosmore Jason Edgecombe - OpenAFS Timothy Terriberry - Gjiten Thomas Pietrowski - CTorrent Pierre Amadio - Rapier (He has indicated he does not have time to maintain this -- hence my (Nathan) porting it to fremantle) Tatu Mannisto - Free42 HP Calc Luis Lorenzo - Maemo Periodic Table Yann Benigot - TiEmu2 Kimitake - OpenNTPD Fernando Mercado - Maemo WOL Pekka Rönkkö - GPS City Guide / Map Downloader / Simple Mapper Gerrit Visser - Navit VSVN Daniel Would - Navit VSVN charles werbick - Roadmap for Diablo This is the complete list on Maemo Downloads of Devs < 200 It would probably be better if someone could just export the db -- most devs actually have more than one app; but if I already "clicked" on their name I didn't bother gathering the app since I knew I had already looked at their profile. Nathan P.S. If the Council would like; I'm willing to spend a bit of time in the repository looking at some of the apps in their and grabbing the names. But again, if we have a db of what has been uploaded or if some astute linux admin wants to run a script actually on the repository server pulling out the uploader from the debian/control file and the name of the app we could get a better picture. |

Had I picked one up, I would certainly be sending it over to derf/tterribe. |

Though tbh I could probably get one on contract then anyway, so sign me up, I don't need two of them. |

I followed your link and read this: Quote:
Are you blaming Quim, the previous Council, or the membership for voting in a new Council member? |
Re: Proposal: To include some Core Members with low Karma in Dev Program
Sorry for the misunderstanding about the Summit devices.
Alright, let's move forward. I propose to maintain a prioritized waiting list of projects with the council. The aim being that remarkable community projects have at least acces to one device for development and testing. This implies that the projects need to have a will to deliver software for Maemo 5 and it also implies that the prioritization covers one device per project. The objective of this is to make sure that the loaned devices fall in the hands of active and interested developers, and also that the devices are well distributed across the community. I'm happy to discuss the prioritization of projects with the council. |
Re: Proposal: To include some Core Members with low Karma in Dev Program
Quim, thanks for your willingness to keep working with people here.
I really do have to ask people here: maemo.org and the karma system have been around for several years. There have been multiple previous device discount programs. Quim made it clear several months ago that applications in Extras and participation in maemo.org were important for consideration in the current programs, and there was even a thread where Quim posted his intentions to use karma to determine device discounts. Several people are acting belligerent, hurt, surprised, and several other negative, inappropriate emotions. Can you really say, in all honesty, that you didn't see any of this coming? That this came out of nowhere? Come on. This kind of behaviour really strikes me as petulant at best and dishonest at worst. I am actually quite embarrassed by the behaviour of our community here. Just so you understand, I believe that "It doesn't hurt to ask," but if the answer is "No," you don't start pouting and crying. |
Re: Proposal: To include some Core Members with low Karma in Dev Program
qole, well put! I've contemplated using the 'ignore user' function on t.m.o for the first time as a result of some of the posts in the past two days.

Re: Proposal: To include some Core Members with low Karma in Dev Program
Qole, this was perfect rant that should IMO belong to some other thread then this. Those other two about developer program would be better choice. This one is serious attempt to figure out how many people fell through cracks of current Karma implementation and what can be done to fix it. Is there something wrong with this?

Ah, so much passion and energy that could be put to productive use...
How the hell did the chain slip off the gears here? Anyway, I'm looking to get back that post-Summit glow. Enough squabbling, boys and girls. There's plenty of positive channels for this enthusiasm. |
