The last page has the warranty. It reads surprisingly like a software warranty (you bought it, suck it up)

As for dates, Kathy, don't forget the rather more egocentric are these days ensuring delivery on specific dates to fit their busy schedule :(

Totally off topic but if you did not see last weekend's Soup, try to catch or DVR it or find it on line. The clip of the week illustrates someone who has no problem with birthin' but has no clue bout birthin', both at the same time. It is hilarious. And scary. And I feel so sorry for that baby. :p:eek::(

LOL, I totally agree with you on the latter portion... very intelligent mind, but the body itself looks like it ate one too many BigMac's combined with $1 Whoppers...

Also forgot to mention, so my E90 I was using till the N900 broke, sent it in for repairs which Nokia stated couldn't be repaired or replaced since they no longer have the phone, so I'm being sent a E71 gray along with 5800 Xpress Music...two replacement phones....sweeeeettttt

so i just got off the phone with amazon, as there is a lot of speculation to this being released on the 14th, however, they (amazon) had a notice to start shipping the item on the 2nd of November, however Nokia called them and put a hold on it, at the current time they have not received any word on when amazon can ship, but from the sounds of it they already have the stock.

i don't know if anyone would appreciate this info but i thought i would throw it out there!

It probably makes sense for them to have the stock already, otherwise if Nokia is holding onto them and needs to ship it all out before it starts selling that's going cause a bottleneck. What they're probably doing is either..

a) ironing out the last major bugs or getting last minute tweaks in
b) trying to ship enough stock everywhere

Logistics does sound a very plausible reason, I suppose it might also have something to do with OVI sync or OVI store?

That would make sense since not everyone knows about Extras so the worst thing possible for Nokia would a release of the n900 and then have everyone rag on it about lack of applications (which for anyone in the community there's tons and tons) but for anyone new to Maemo there's less than 25..

Except that really doesn't fit with nokia's statement that they're ironing out some of the 'wish-list' from the 300. Unless the very first thing you do with n900 is update the firmware, this firmware will not be particularly new.

It's possible of course.

Which Amazon ar you talking about? UK? US? EU?

US Model - France 3G Issue
 

The 1700/2100 MHz AWS band in which T-Mobile US 3G resides uses two segments: from 1710 - 1755 MHz, and from 2110 - 2155 MHz.

European 3G uses frequencies in two segments: from 2110 - 2170 MHz to receive and 1920 - 1980 MHz to transmit.

There is some overlap in the 2100 MHz reception band but a complete disconnect at the transmit band.

This difference is enough to render my Nokia 6290, a European 3G device, a 2G device on the T-Mobile US network.

Unless the US N900 model is set up to use the 1920 - 1980 MHz component the US N900 will be a 2G unit in France. The FCC information shows an upper frequency limit of 1909.8 MHz in that band indicating it does not reach to the 1920 MHz area it would have to reach to work in Europe.

However, in the SAR report is this little snippet "Outside of USA and Canada, the transmitter of the device is capable of operating also in
GSM/GPRS/EGPRS900, GSM/GPRS/EGPRS1800, WCDMA900 and WCDMA2100 bands which are not part of this filing." So, who knows what to make of that?

If I am mistaken in this someone please be kind enough to correct this.

your 6290 probably doesn't support the 1700 range.
the N900 does, so it's basically a matter of what SIM card you put into it, and it'll choose the correct frequencies to transmit.

btw, there is no "US N900" or "EU N900" in terms of connectivity. the difference is purely in the keyboard layouts.
any N900 you buy anywhere will work on T-Mo US and French 3G carriers.
