I don't know what development experience you have (if any), but this isn't atypical. People will already be working on M6, yes, that's natural - but part of that is because there's only so much that the M5 people can contribute at this stage. For example, the UI designers, hardware people, etc - are going to have pretty much nothing to add to bug fixing, since it's completely out of their area - and you don't want them sitting around doing nothing. Keep trying to not go insane, remember your patience, and the awesome will come in time. :p |
Re: N900 shipping delayed
Think about it this way:
The goal is to make the ultimate OS. One that by far surpasses all competition. You don't spend a year just making bug fixes, there's always the next, bigger, better release coming. This of course is something not usually possible in garage software projects, but I suppose it would be possible for the linux kernel developers, for example, to organize separate "future visions" team. But I guess that's not the way they feel it should be done :p |

My point was to priorities, and whether Nokia was now so focused on Maemo 6 that it was distracting them from completing the Freemantle /N900 effort. I have no problem with them having multiple prongs of attack on the different projects, as that just makes good business sense. It becomes an issue when you start pulling your best people off of the old project to support the new, keeping only a skeleton crew to complete the initial job. I can't tell you how many times I've seen it happen. |

Re: N900 shipping delayed
By the time this phone comes out, I'm sure the N920 or a Maemo 6 device will have been announced already...
Only reason I can think of, of why it's delayed is because hardware feedback they got from the majority of users of the '300' Hmmm...reminds me a movie! Nokia marketing slogan: 300...never again will they'll be so many devices! |
