Greetings

kees, i think this is hardware assisted.
the multitouch combination stuff I can come up with relates to needing a fixed point, pinch is not applicable in the normal sense.

I like the idea of this compromise, as drm points out handwriting is very important in certain parts of the world (the far east, manchester etc)

But not resistive like you maybe are thinking at the moment...

So there is going to be an n920? I thought the next phone was n950 - Harmattan?

Nokia Patent on Multitouch, most probably on resistive screen

Nokia has filed a new patent for multitouch

Im not a pro in this tecnical thing, but could this mean that nokia devloped a technology that is multitouch capable but also usable by a stylus with different pressure, for painting for example?

Sorry folks, it turned out that is was capacitive touchscreen instead of resistive one :(

It says Nokia filed a Patent Application (i.e. they applied for a Patent), not that a Patent was granted.

Actually, i'm afraid not. I think multi-touch would require extra sensors, which probably aren't on current devices and can't be retrofitted. Also, there would be no reason to buy a new one ;)

To be precise, they filed a Patent Application (i.e. applied for a Patent). No Patent has been granted at this time.
