I've just realised that nothing here apart from what you put in your username indicates gender...

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
José Luis Martínez, VP, Marketing @ Nokia confirmed in the opening of the Long Weekend. This is good news! It will help getting better media coverage.
I just started http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo-Barcelon...Weekend/Agenda Friday is the only day when there are "consumer" sessions. Saturday and Sunday we won't have the auditorium and the activity will concentrate on the 4 tracks + the open space for whatever you want. |

Friday's agenda is getting in shape slowly: http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo-Barcelon...Weekend/Agenda

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
It looks like we will have budget for free shirts!
If there is a cool BCN Long Weekend design by Monday we will take it. If not, then we will go for the stock maemo.org |

None of them are coming, actually.

I'd prefer a standard maemo T shirt myself, anyway. ;)

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
We "just" need an iconic face/logo for Barcelona/Spain and Maemo/Documentation/UX/Localization (in Copenhagen, it was a viking with a Mozilla-Maemo beard - who designed the Danish Weekend shirts, anyway?). Does anybody have some creative ideas? :)
|
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
I've never been to Barcelona. But the following things come to mind:
Football, palm trees, Gaudi. Best fit for a shirt would probably be a palm tree. Palm trees always look cool :) Ok, it's maybe a bit generic, but I would still like it. |
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Somehow merge http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8WaGBp-93.../s320/drac.jpg and the maemo.org Logo ? ;)
|
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
I thought of that too, but then we need to be careful that it won't look like SUSE Linux :)

Right now it's probably a bit too much of a rip off, but a very nice start indeed! |
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
I was going to start on graphics for this (badge, etc) a while back but got the impression they wouldn't be needed... I can still work something up though.
La Sagrada Familia comes to mind for a theme... |
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Trying to procrastinate here. The results so far:

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
The Sagrada Familial could be a stylized M for Maemo (with some imagination)

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Sorry for coming with the boring disclaimer but it's either "Maemo" with some font or "maemo.org" logo. As you prefer.
The one with the palm looks good but could be Acapulco as well. ;) Another BCN stereotype that happens to be finger friendly: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=monu...lom&ss=2&s=int :D :D :D PS: The Danish Weekend shirts were designed by a Mozilla contributor. |

Based on Quim's feedback, here is a variation of the first one..
http://khan.thpinfo.com/~thp/tmp/mae...maebarce-4.png That weird rounded rectangle should be a N900, and it probably needs some love from a designer ;) Source available here, please improve that if you like: SVG source |
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Ok. here's basic concept from me.
As the main theme of this weekend would be "UX meets Code" - I decided to visualize it as a cocktail, made in "maemo.org community glass" (maemo merchandise, nudge-nudge :D ). It's sunny, means something, bright, represents spain and barcelona colors. Poke me if you'll be fine with it, I'll try to come up with something else meanwhile. http://s43.radikal.ru/i102/0911/7b/bfca97bd97a1.png |
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
I have an idea... I'll work on it tomorrow. :D
|
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
I like the Columbus with some fine tuning.
UX meets Code turned out to be one of several activities in the Long Weekend Playing with flag shapes and colors is not easy in Barcelona..... |

I came up with this idea yesterday...it need a bit of retouch but I remember in Amsterdam the XXX as been used, now I think that Gaudě's masterpiece is one of the symbol of the city. Cheers

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
It was 1.30 am yesterday so I hadn't the time to do the rest, a couple of more ideas will arrive soon :)
|
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Wow Samantha, welcome! This is a big start.
I think both your Sagrada Familia and Colom have the good balance of BCN global stereotype plus local respect. :) Finger friendly Colom is more specific and funny, perhaps more memorable for a shirt. But of course this is all about tastes. I will take the option preferred by the community on Monday, Tuesday if there is an exceptional reason. There is no more time than that! |
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Thanks for the reply, I will put together also an alternative with Columbus. I first decided for the Sagrada because I have been there 10 years ago and it is something that never left my heart (well Gaudě in general) see you later with new designs

Hello, here it is the Sagrada logo with a dark background and a Colom logo, in both dark and white background, let me know what do you think. Cheers

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Great work! Personally I like the Colom version more then the Sagrada.
|
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
nice submissions! I want to note that perhaps a direct link to alcoholic beverages might be less generally appreciated than some other symbol.
|
Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
Can we save the red in the last Columbus? Cheaper shirts and less polemics.
|

Well of course, the red was only a tribute (together with the yellow) to the spanish flag.

What's the issue with Spanish people and the Spanish flag? sorry for my ignorance... |

Thanks I didn't know that, thanks for explained me.
I have done also another version of the Colom...so many things can be done, and so little time... Attachment 4693 |

Re: Maemo-Barcelona Long Weekend, December 4-6
T-shirt color?
Front or back? Anything in the other side? For reference, the Maemo Summit shirts were black, had a big Summit logo in the back with the work Maemo with normal fonts and then a small maemo.org logo in the front. http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo_Summit_2...g_and_printing PS: don't ask me why but the full Columbus look better to my eyes, perhaps because it's easier to recognize. Also, there was something funny and unique in thp's joke with the finger pointing a (Maemo) device, isn't it? |
