I will be interested in how Nokia handles the software for the web cam. I see low budget video casts in the making. The two memory card slots are making a lot more sense now. I like the sound of having a built-in stand and the top buttons getting a more logical layout now that I see the new photo. All that was on bottom is now on the right (does that go for the USB port as well?)? Hmm... I guess that's okay. Now about that screen cover, is there one to go with this wonderful new toy?

Actually, there are 4 buttons on top now, and they are very tiny.
As for the webcam, it would be nice to use it for small, low quality videos, but I can't see that working well. How would you view what you were filming? No provision for that in the device. |

If the new model is indeed slightly smaller as a whole, then doesn't that suggest there are only minor internal hardware upgrades, if any?
These technologies have not grown that much since the 770 was designed; many of the same limitations still apply. My guess would be that they have chosen to stick with most of the 770's internal capabilities, while also keeping OS2006, and to concentrate on a new look and other less fundamental changes (such as that onboard camera, onboard stand, two card slots...). |

But consider this: the webcam is designed to capture the face of a conversant, not a target opposite the conversant. So the ostensible video maker would have to point the device away from himself, thus being unable to see the screen. |

Being an open platform, I'm sure we can come up with some solutions to make ample use of the camera. The question remains, is this a multi-function camera/webcam, or just a video podcasting or video messaging feature? |
