Haha... The stuff marked "Made in Finland" is actually the counterfeit stuff. :) On my last Nokia, the real battery was made in China, and the aftermarket knockoff I bought was marked as made in Finland.

The core devices have been manufactured in Korea for some time, with final assembly in other plants such as Reynosa, Mexico and I believe Salo, Finland.

Shouldn’t be the opposite? The core stuff in Finland and the other stuff in Asia. I guess that they don’t have the know-how anymore. Sad…

Korea is not a country though, it must be either south or north korea... Or more recently, somewhat slave-labor in between in a weirdo-zone.

I think when someone writes Korea the natural assumption is that it's the south - I imagine it's pretty unlikely that Nokia have got any kind of factory in North Korea...unless Kim Jong Il is a fan of the Finns of course ;)

The reason for South Korea doing engines is that they are a Low Cost Country (LCC) and engine production is the most significant expense. Final assembly is for last-mile logistics, ie, customization. As I've noted here before, Nokia is VERY big into just in time production and so firmware is burned and devices packed only days before they go to retailers or service providers.

probably, there are 5 different manufactures:

1)- Korea
2)- China
3)- India
4)- Hungary
5)- Finland

and we dont know from where we will get the N900...:)))
