peter@maemo
i know your watching so please answer if you have any information

why all countries around germany/uk are shipping the device.
nokia.de support didn't told me anything "we don't know any other date than 25.11"

i thougt they are all shipping from the netherlands, so if the netherland/italy/france ships, why not germany/uk?

Quit replying. Seriously, Just stop. Nokia screwed up, they announced availability on a product that wasn't available the first day and the second day was barely available and the third day has still to come, people have the right to be mad and your just pissing them off more by protecting a corporation that doesn't care more about you then does us.

hehe i don't think it is personally Peters fault.... He is just one man, and would be at work today i assume - so can't monitor all the forums all of the time. I'd suggest calling nokia up.... or writing a complaint letter.

I realise you are not going to get the response you want from them, but if you want an answer, you will need to speak to them :) - not expect them to reply personally to a forum post :)

If he does reply, i will be very impressed tho!

Open my eyes? Seriously? Did they not announce on the 18th that the N900 will be available for purchase? My eyes are open to see no valid date of release.

To Lie: an inaccurate or false statement. (I put it in bold just for you)

Nokia's press release was INACCURATE as I do not have my N900 in my hand. On the 18th it should of shipped, I should of had the N900 in my hand on the 19th as I have next day shipping. So my claim of deception and inaccuracy is a valid argument.

Not doubting you - nokia got it wrong :)
would be nice of them to admit it but they won't :) - they obviously have a reason for these delays, and they won't share it...

They should however have to answer for the lack of customer communication and phone/email skills!

i wrote them 5 times the last weeks...they always answered with "copy&paste" from there web shop.
I called them yesterday. We guy was very unfriendly and told me that he didn't know anything.

peter was proud to tell us the "shipping" date two weeks ago so thought he could tell us "real" news that are important for us, the costumer

edit: peter was watching this thread while i posted my question

Actually your wrong, There is a reason Nokia is moving from Symbian to Maemo, the N900 is the flagship phone, the phone to bring them back into the market, the phone to release a old but redesigned OS to the market, Symbian is not very loved around here. I don't know anyone that uses Symbian anymore, maybe where you live people have little knowledge of high end smart phones but here in Texas a lot of people pay for expensive phones, whatever there reason is to buy them, they do pay the money.

You know what would be funny ? If Nokia all of a sudden said something like: "We are sorry, but we forgot that the units we have shipped all have a crucial faulty hardware configuration. Unfortunately the phones have to be returned for furhter adjustments and the release has to be delayed. We are sorry, but you will have to wait for Nokia N9xx and Maemo 6. Ok, bye."

For the ones planning to use the phone on the 3 network, there is some light !

I saw this bug-update in my mail:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5315

Status RESOLVED, asking for internal testers to confirm the fix as often as possible.

It's going to be in every build based on or after 2009-47, whenever they make an official drop the the big public.

I hope that's pretty soon as my N900 has to run on 3 UK as of next week'ish ...

Possibly worth remembering the fact that on 23/10/09 all blogs/sites reporting on the delay of the device release stated:

"Nokia's Flagship N900 Delayed Unil November (NOK)"

Now I wonder where THEY got the idea this was Nokia's flagship device?

:)

( Just to clarify, I am agreeing with you :) )

Right, haha, the people on here make me laugh like they know everything before they research and discuss, they jump to conclusions. "Sorry no its not a flagship device because it's too expensive and it has a redesigned OS and it does everything plus more and ...."

Hello,

I have pre-ordered the Nokia N900 on Oct 17th. I've noticed that a rebate offer came out a few days ogo for $50. I've also noticed that one of the requirements for that rebate offer is that the purchase be made between Nov. 16th and Dec. 31st 2009.

Although I have pre-ordered the device on October 17th, I have not in fact purchased it yet.

I just wanted to ask and make sure that the invoice I will be receiving from you will show the actual Purchase date of the device. Meaning the date you will charge my Credit Card.

I also need this "actual" date to be reflected for the purpose of taking advantage of my square trade warranty. The Warranty is effective as of the purchase date, so I do not intend to pay for a warranty that will cover me from the day I pre-ordered, without having had a device in my hands for over a month.

Thank you very much for your time and your services.

Sincerely,

All right so apparently, even though it seems some think the "Order" date is what will count in regards to the rebate, I have received a different, positive response from Amazon, in regards to the question above. Those of us that have ordered from amazon before the Nov. 16th date might not have a problem at all getting the Rebate.

The original message I thought I sent did not go through apparently so I resent it adding a question in regards to the new $529 price being reflected on my order.

From Amazon:
Quote:

Hello Davide,

The actual purchase date will be the date we charge your card. This will qualify you for your rebate.

Also your warranty will come in to effect from the purchase date also.

Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, software, or video game, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the release date. If the price changes, you'll see the update (or refund, if your shipment is already being prepared) within 24 hours.

Our Pre-Order Price Guarantee doesn't apply to items (or prices) offered by other sellers on our site.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

as i said, they drive me crazy, this from nokia support germany:

Wie in der Pressemitteilung geschrieben, hat die Auslieferung des N900 begonnen.
Dieses bedeutet, dass die Mobiltelefone derzeit das Werk verlassen und den Großhändlern, sowie unserem eigenen Lager zugeführt werden
Zum heutigen Zeitpunkt liegt uns kein anderer Endkunden-Auslieferungstermin als der 25.11.2009 vor.

As written in the press release, has begun the extradition of the N900.
This means that the mobile phones currently leave the factory and the wholesalers, as well as our own camp are fed
At the present time lies before us, no other retail ship date as of 25/11/2009. (translate.google.de)

What happens in the US has never been a big part of Nokias success. I live in UK and I assure you the British mobile phone industry is several years ahead of the US in terms of smartphone usage.
This is not phone to bring Nokia "back into the market" when Nokia supplies 40% of the global market and 50% of the smart phone market. Rather this is a platform requiring refinement before it will reaches the mass market in the future and eventually replace symbian for nokias high end devices.

Eventually doesn't mean that the N900 is not there breakthrough as a flagship phone into the new market of "Smartphones," Nokia has been hurting from Android and iPhone, even Blackberry. As I really don't care what they supply the N900 is still the flagship phone for Nokia, you can say what you like but the fact is infront of you.

I don't know anything about the US market, but i'm hoping this is Nokias "Wake up call" - they have needed to do something new and fresh for a while :) - Open source is a bonus :)

Did you think Im suggesting the N900 is a low end device in Nokias line up?
The N900 is obviously a flagship device but its not the one that Nokia are relying on to generate the major revenue. The importance of this platform will only be realised in a few years time so regardless of what you or other disgruntled consumers think about a few week delay it makes not one iota of difference to Nokia as a company or their reputation among the mass market.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

wow, no i got a "human answer":

translate.google

Since we have no other information that we can rely only on 25/11/2009.
Today I asked again whether the deadline can be einghalten, after which no further delay was named.
Thus, we must assume that the extradition will take place in due course.

Of course, this does not meet our service philosophy and we provide feedback to the availability of the store manager weitergereich.

The date has been delayed for the whole of Germany, precise reasons for this, are not available.

I am sorry you provide any information to be able to otherwise.

I disagree with you because the N900 has picked up customers for Nokia that it would have never seen with any Symbian phone, I myself have bought four. I have nearly 10+ friends switching to T-Mobile and purchasing an N900 which would have NEVER bought a symbian phone. That's enough for me to see what impact the N900 is capable of for Nokia. It's also not the "few week delay" that makes customers angry its the Press Release stating that the phone is available yet Nokia has nothing to show. I don't care if it doesn't make a difference for Nokia, I get annoyed when people come here or anywhere defending Nokia or any other company after the company has wronged even one consumer. It's also not only Nokia that has this going on, its nearly every company but people here are voicing it like Nokia is GOD. People not accepting that the Press Release was inaccurate is just sad. Fanboys suck.
