Newegg might have charged everyone's cards so they can get everything ready to ship out the door the moment the 30th arrives (if Nokia prohibited them from releasing before the 30th).

OK, here' s the deal with NewEgg, as far as I can figure out...well, first let me say that over the last few years I've bought a few thousand dollars of stuff from NewEgg and always gotten excellent service, no problems at all.

Anyway, supposedly their 1st shipment was 700 units. That has all been sold of course, but actually shipped? - who knows. They are waiting for another shipment now, should arrive "soon". Since I wasted months on a failed attempt to get one from NokiaUSA, I didn't get my pre-order in witth NewEgg early enough so I'll have to wait to get mine from NewEgg's 2nd batch.
Edit: As of now, my order is still "Hold" and my card has not been charged.

I noticed earlier today the N900 was "Deactivated" on NewEgg, got worried and called customer service. No problem, I WILL get the phone, from the 2nd shipment. And it's available again on their website, BUT...when I pre-ordered mine it was $559, limit 20 per customer. Later, it was 5 per customer. Now, it's 1 per customer, and at Nokia's list price of $649.

Must quite the in-demand item. I've never seen this kinda thing from NewEgg before.

Nov 13th. I don't blame NewEgg. I pre-ordered from NokiaUSA Sept 4th and they totally botched that, resulting in the late pre-order at NewEgg. So I just didn't mke it in time for one of the 1st 700.

Similar deal here - I switched to Newegg 11/6 however - I hope that gets me into the first batch. This is getting beyond old.

We know that's BS on their part. Mine was in on 10/21 and others have got their status changed and updated who came well after me. Most of their products they don't have to worry about this much contention on the part of buyers with forums devoted to up the second updates. So therefore their first come, first serve "LIE" will suffice. Nobody is the wiser. I think we've found a fly in that ointment.

According to Newegg's policy page, once an item is actually marked as "shipped"(as this is in the upper box in the order screen), it's actually out for shipping. Not "preparing" or anything like that. So, hopefully, I will have this item Friday sometime! Yay!

All I can say is I've always gotten fast service from Newegg, and the whole missed-the-1st-batch explanation makes common sense to me. I ain't mad at nobody but NokiaUSA/Brightpoint. That's who jerked my chain...

yeah this is really frustrating... i've been following all this bs for a while and i've never seen anything like it. I preordered from newegg on 11/7. i got impatient and even tried to order from nokiausa, but they totally ****ed up and i got the authorization failed thing, and they still charged my card, twice. now i'm just waiting on my newegg preorder, which is still on hold. i cant believe that they are actually processing recent orders before preorders though, thats just nonsense. but it looks like they are...

Update: Amazon.com just charged my credit card for the full purchase amount. My account says "shipping soon" and I can no longer make changes, but I haven't been given a date yet.

Feeling the same, I chatted to this lady on Newegg and she apologized for the confusion and all but didn't really offer much explanation, just something about having ran out of stock at the moment. It would make sense if they were processing pre-orders first, but it looks like they're processing pre-orders in order along with current orders, which is just plain stupid. I'm happy for the guys who could order it today and have it ship this very same week, but at the same time I feel played by Newegg seeing how my pre-order is still On Hold.

It ain't just me, I got a lot of company here! I've never had NewEgg do this either. I've ordered > $20K with them personally. I have a lot of my customers buy from them as well. I now know their first come first serve stuff is BS now.

Just got my tracking number. No estimates on when it'll actually get here yet, but hey, it's actually shipped. Friday it will be at my doorstep, hopefully.

Yes! Just checked after you said this, and mine now shows a tracking number too! Origin scan from Tennessee. By the way, you can cut and paste that tracking number into UPS.com and get a little more info about your shipment.

Posted from my new N900. Yes, I have my grubby little hands on it. It came as a complete surprise. I gpt an e-mail last Friday saying my pre-order had been relased for shipping. But with my original pre-order with Nokia being cancelled by.them, I didn't expect it until the end of.the.month. But when I checked my e-mail this morning. I saw a message saying my card had been charges and it was shipped. By the time I checked the the tracking number. it was already in town and was to be delivered before 3 pm.

I signed up with T-Mobile with a cheap phone (for a backup) an hour ago. I put the SIM carrd in the N900 and placed calls. I had to call T-Mobile to get the data service working. They wanted the IMEI number of the phone. They got it working while I was om the line with them. No 3G service locally yet. So I'm not going to transfer over my Sprint cell number just yet. But it's only a matter of time.

I think I speak for all the people who pre-ordered here and STILL havent gotten a shipping notice - while people who jumped on the bandwagon today get theirs shipped.

order that same day cause i pre ordered them 10/10 and don't hear a thing when is going to ship. So i'm happy i did it at newegg!

I agree that this has been the most mis-handled product release I've ever been part of. Looks like the close-knit community surrounding this product has caught several retailers in a lie about "first come/first serve". I don't think they expected everyone to be able to piece that together. Just how yesterday Nokia.com was shipping NEW orders overnight and still hadn't filled all preorders. This whole thing is stupid.

Just to note, I've had a preorder with Amazon since 11/6 that I've still gotten no word on. I just figured I'd give this Newegg thing a try today when I saw it, and I somehow hit the lottery. I've been awaiting this phone for a while now, so that hopefully I can ditch my iPhone 3GS (even though jailbroken it actually does all the things that I want..but...I shouldn't have to jailbreak to get that to start with). I can't believe that it even worked today! However, I'm not canceling my Amazon order until this thing is in my hands. With the way that all retailers/Nokia/etc have been screwing this up, I'm not counting out a disaster happening until I'm holding the device.

Good luck trying to tear into them. Unless you know something I don't know, you can't seem to get to anybody with a clue, and there seems to be no escalation path. I've been trying to locate Tally Liu's email address tonight. He is the CEO, figured I would at least mail insult him a little, but info is hard to find for these guys.
