Does N900 have folder option for widgets?

Perhaps I missed it, but does the current N900 interface support folder creation and organization of widgets? Seems like it would get cluttered without this very desktop kind of feature.

I'm not sure what you mean by folder creation?

Create a folder to place shortcuts or widgets for more organization, rathet than a bunch of widgets on the desktops. Same principle as on a desktop's desktop.

Example is if you have several media apps you could create a folder called Media and place the shortcuts / widgets there and organize tools, bookmarks, etc by creating folders for those subjects too.

No, no folders. The four desktops are your organizational opportunity.

Home screen is so that you can place there the one media player you love the most.

Is it possible to put a folder on the desktop itself? E.g. if I have a folder called school, can I put a shortcut on the desktop that will open up the school folder in file manger when pressed?

No, you cannot.

But surely this is something a developer could lash up in an evening?

I assume that a widget is just a shortcut to an executable and the desktop is a folder somewhere.

A widget is a small application that lives on the desktop. A shortcut is a shortcut to an application.

Does that make me wrong then and it can't be done?
