EMAIL FROM SYGIC

Dear Sir,

Maemo version is already finished and tested internally. Delay was caused by the Nokia testing, that is neccesary to release product in Ovi store.

Mobile maps for Maemo will be released very soon, we will inform about its availability through our mailing list, that you can find at www.sygic.com section help.

Thank you for contacting support and your interest in our products!

Again ?!

you don't need to do that... you can also uninstall it and then reinstall it on the internal 32GB memory of the N900. Then it works without relinking.

I thought Sygic already had a video of it running on an N900

My main concern is that it works better than TomTom standalone unit I currently have

Carry two devices versus carrying one. Sure you can hide the GPS unit in your car though that means finding somewhere to put it. Most of the time it's advised that you hide everything (power cables, mounts, etc..) since if thieves find a GPS mount they're more likely to smash your car's window to take it.

yes, I think it was worth the money.
Cold GPS fix (never used with Ovi maps) was WAY LESS than 5 seconds INSIDE my house!
The maps are very new (better than TomTom maps, I know that, because in my neighbourhood they are bulding new streets). And yes you're right, with the GPS system, but I bought the N900, so why buy another hardware system?

edit: fully uploaded in 1 hour and 15 minutes

More to the point--they made an initial investment to port it over and, apparently from all the comments so far, did it well. I'd like to hear more about the experience of driving with it and whether the turn-by-turn on the N900 version is as good as these first impressions of just turning it on inside a house. Details, lads. Details!

As for the price being too high, well.. what do you get? Software and maps, obviously.. how long is the subscription on that initial purchase and how much does the re-occurring subscription for map updates cost and, importantly, how often are maps and software guaranteed to be updated on this platform?

Re: Sygic announces world-wide turn-by-turn navigation for Maemo

Just purchased Sygic Maps but signed in to give a warning.
Tried to purchase it and the website dropped the connection at the last step.
I waited for 15 mins in case the transaction passed and with no email coming I tried again.
The first email came within seconds and the activation email after 3 mins.
After about 1 hour came the activation email for the first transaction (total 1 hour and 18 mins from the 1st failed transaction).
Now I have 2 activations codes but have to wait an answer from Sygic, if they can refund me and what code I use.
