this will probably not work as you expected. But it's good on fullscreen. Automatic rotation will be probably in next update...

/usr/share/applications/hildon/sygic.desktop

You have to edit menu.ini. See few post earlier.

Is there settings to be able to type lower case characters from hw keyboard?

Is it planned to hide virtual keyboard when hw keyboard is used?

- Is there reason to use only upper case letters while you can use both from virtual keyboard? This should follow the keyboard settings selection whether to use Qwerty or QWERTY.

- This just hides the virtual keyboard completely. This should be tied to the slide mechanism. When slide is open virtual keyboard is hidden. When it is closed it is shown.

What me (and I bet a gazillion more people...) are waiting to know is: How does it perform when navigating?

Lately Nokia devices have been laggy when Navigating (i.e. The position on the map is always several meters behind the actual position). This is more noticeable when driving slow inside the town and is enough bad that you will miss your turn.

How is the performance while driving? Anyone?

OK, guys can someone post pic confirming:

a) Full Screen mode working, and why the hell it's been turned off, does it cause any problems then?
b) SpeedCameras alerts, is it bundled with the license?

What about further updates, how often it needs to be renewed and paid again?

Thanks:)

Speed cameras DB can be updated at anytime - it is a bundled file and it should be supported from the get go.
About the subscription, if you read the full thread it was stated that it is lifetime so... one time payment. As it should be.

The alerts are working well. At least in route simulation.

@spag: thanks, but does it show the distance descending to the speed camera in front of you? Another words, how does it warn you about one?

Strange...

I change the line
"Exec=/opt/sygic/Drive/Maemo/drive -cwd=/home/user/MyDocs/Drive/Maemo
Type=Application"
to
Exec=/opt/sygic/Drive/Maemo/drive -cwd=/home/user/MyDocs/Drive/Maemo -rfull"

My sygic Icon no long appears on desktop or in applications

Any ideas ?

It shouldn't be in the same line.

Both a visual and audible note (can be defined).
You can also define the distance to the radar before the warning is issued

I noticed the same thing... look down and you'll see same parameter again with the true value.

- probably to prevent mistakes on non-full keybords phones. Will check... Keyboard settings is only for virtual keyboard.
- It's a good idea, but I'm not sure if it's possible, yet. Maybe in future...

Well no. You should change

Exec=/opt/sygic/Drive/Maemo/drive -cwd=/home/user/MyDocs/Drive/Maemo
Type=Application

To

Exec=/opt/sygic/Drive/Maemo/drive -cwd=/home/user/MyDocs/Drive/Maemo -rfull

Great, sounds good. Now I'll wait for a real navigation-in-car review and I'm ready to purchase this app:D

Offtop:

Seems like Sygic rocks, they actually ported it within 3 month. So shame on Nokia, the company that huge, yet slow and irresponsible.

some feedback.
loads very quick. gps also only a few seconds indoor.
had a quick drive, lock was great no delay or lag noticed.
I also had sygic on my n97, this is much faster and responsive.

kudos to sygic

Now , with Sygic on the 5800 I`ve downloaded custom mp3 files for the speed cameras warnings ( instead of beeping, I`ve replaced the beep sound of the 30,40,50,60,70 mile warnings with actual voices saying 'thirty,fourty,.....' instead).I then went into the POI settings and manually replaced the beep sound with the mp3s.Can we do the same here?Can anyone check this?

This is an N900 my friend, running Linux, where there is a will there is a developer willing to help. What you ask should be pretty easy to do.

My experience this morning was that it did indeed start out like that, but that it improved over the course of five minutes. Even at its worst it allowed navigation within a small village. My guess is that when the gps fix is imprecise (big circle if you use Google Maps) it errs on the side of assuming you're further back than you are, but as it refines the fix it gets more accurate. After five minutes it was showing me passing side streets at exactly the same time that I actually was.

There are some MP3 files, should be easy to replace.

On another note it's nice to have this on the N900, now I only need MMS support and video calling and java support. Then I can sell my N95 8GB.

N900 has enough horsepower for it not to be laggy

Maaaan, I don't want to get too excited but it seems like this app is completing the N900 to be an all-on-one device finaly (well at least for me), if only nokia started to support it in the proper way as they suppose to do it.

:cool::D:eek::D:eek::D:eek::D:cool:

I will now officially stop whining, 'cause now I don't really care whether Nokia is going to improve anything at all or not.

Have a good one guys ;)

....also, what format extension are the maemo maps?Just to see if they are compatible with Symbian.Sygic says otherwise but I don`t believe them :)

If they are .mlm files I bet they are compatible!
