Sygic repository was disabled! There was plan to use this repository for automatic updates. Because of your stupidity maybe won't.

Go to File Manager, then your N900, it should have SetupMobileMaps in the root folder of the internal storage

Didn't work. All this did was making the arrow more jerky. Map still comes 50 meters behind, even in walking speed.

I have a few questions and would appreciate if anyone could answer...
1) How does the lane guidance feature work? Could anyone show a screen shot?
2) How would you rate the POI information? Is the POI provided by Navteq or is it a separate thing from the map data? I have this concern because the POI in OVI Map leaves a lot to be desired ....
3) How is the POI integration? Can you dial the phone number directly from Sygic?

An apt repository would be the ideal way to distribute updates, please don't punish customers because of some idiots. Perhaps auto-generated repositories keyed on the licence key could work?

ok, I will create repository, where will be the latest SetupMobileMaps.deb. This will also solve some problems with missing SetupMobileMaps.deb file in downloaded package, simplify installation and everybody will stay up to date.

Interesting. It worked for me and it's now super accurate although the movement is a bit more rough.
It was lagging about 30-50m before. After setting it to false, it's now within 5m. Way it should be.

HI,

I missed some options in my version so I decided to reinstall Sygic,
On their FAQ, Maemo ( sygic.com ) I was told to uninstall and finally I removed allso SetupMobileMaps.deb file. I started allover reinstalling everythin but SetupMobileMaps.deb file doesnt show up. How do I get that file again?

Rgds,

Re: Sygic announces world-wide turn-by-turn navigation for Maemo

I have added a New thread (click here). It has all the tips I gained from this long thread on how to change some defaults on Sygic Maps (full screen etc). I used them all when I installed it this morning.

Hope it helps and many thanks to all the posters here and the Maemo community for you help, it makes the N900 a fantastic device to own.

Cheers
John

That would be very usefull, and make updates seamless like other applications.

Is there any way to just have the UK map, i.e. delete all the other maps from the folder - or would that cause a problem ?

I got it super smooth and accurate by setting FPS to 16.0, antialiasing to false and position filering to false. Now it's good :)

Can someone explain what I see on this screen? You get to this screen if you tap on the12 white bars quickly after the app starts. Before you get a GPS signal.

This screen tells you how many satellite (in the sky) your gps is able to lock onto and which on it is using at the moment...

Thanks Zdeno, I copied it all to another folder (so its still on the phone if needed - ie copy & paste back into maps folder).

Now I don't have to keep typing in 'United Kingdom', which was exactly what I was after;)

My mistake...I accidentally select WINDOWS...

@ Mr. Incredible

Don't you just tab on the signal bar on the lower right of the screen to get to that page? Even in the map, you can still see the signal status. Hope that work for you.

If you've modded Sygic to see all menu entries, you can see that screen by clicking on GPS Status.
How to enable all menu entries? See the thread "How to mod Sygic"

Not sure if this has been answer and sorry if it has, but does this application takes alot of space on the root and will it have to be remove once we get a new firmware update.

Mr. Incredible 2010-03-20 13:16

Re: Sygic announces world-wide turn-by-turn navigation for Maemo

@azz
This won't work.

Thanks zehjotkah! I have a question to the "radar" thingy. :o

I watched the position of the satellites for a while and noticed something strange. For example satellite no. 2 come from west, flys directly over the center and goes to east. I expected it would dissapear and come from west again after a while. But it "turned" and now it comes from east, flys directly over the center and goes to west. How that?

Hey guys, i have a question, is it a common thing that the GPS lags? I think it has a 10m-50m delay.. Anyone else has this problem? I thought it was just a problem with Nokia Maps but now i bought Sygic maps and it's all the same.. :/
