I agree that patience is the key point here. I'm just looking forward to sharing my amazing day experience like the OP did :-)
I also think that this phone is going to be my primary device for a very long time to come, just like my N95 8gig was |

i simply feel that for nokia to say this is step 4 of 5, this isnt for everyone but then sell it as if it is the complete package is laughable. No i dont expect them to openly say hey buy my phone but it cant do x y and z if you need these go to a competitor. my point was that people returning the phone would be bad for maemo5. step 4 of 5 my *** its being sold as a smartphone. i also think there are millions of people in the world that buy phones based on 1 using the phone in store and 2 the salesperson, otherwise why have a salesperson at all. if theses millions of people then decide to take it back (ever so slight exaggeration :D) oh great that looks brilliant doesnt it. Maemo6 is what Nokia want for the public correct. Well if the public think Maemo5 is crap why would they think about Maemo6. the N97 automatically gave the N900 a bad name without people even knowing its completely different. If the public dont like it then less commercial apps, open source i no but i am assuming nokia would like some commercial apps to go to the platform even if techies dont give a crap. less commercial apps even less interest by the public. Great phone but its being missold  |

If new users want to talk to the community about their N900, why shouldn't they be able to talk about the N900 in the N900 section of Talk? |

On another note - don't hijack threads. |

Nokia isn't prone to those type of specific statements, but if they're planning all that stuff, and if they are true to the statements Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo made to the financial community today that "we will execute," well, then they can only stand to gain by clearly mapping out what I as a consumer can expect in terms of updates. BTW I find this thread excellent for showing the potential and what's possible with the N900 in terms of it being a mobile computer. Still, I think it could be merged with other similar threads. |
Re: This phone is freaking amazing.. day in the life..
God, you're obviously upset, but you also seem kind of jealous. You've made such an a*s of yourself since you've been here that I get the feeling you've just decided to throw caution to the wind and light yourself on fire. In my opinion, you should have just said, I'll just wait till they iron out the kinks. Again, it took Apple 2 years to implement MMS. Patience is a virtue; get yourself some. In the meantime, maybe you should stop posting in happy threads like this 'cause I get the feeling you're heading to that bad place again. And next time it will probably be more like 40 days and nights.

2. Portrait - Would be nice for some things but I still manage a lot single handed with this once on. 3. Well I thought it was supposed to be a better N810 - N770->N800->N810->N900. 4. None of the previous tablets had seperate number keys so would have to be a LOT bigger or microscopic keys. The lack of a navigation device can be awkward for certain use cases but with a touch screen what is really restricted here? 5. Bigger screen would have been nice. I liked the N810 format too but I'm getting used to this as well. Battery life on a lot of cellular devices is not so good but I get at least a heavy days' usage out of it. I tend to be paranoid though so extra battery fully charge lives in my pocket. Nice and slim so no issues there. 6. Capative screen is really a question of choice. I find the screen on the N900 is plenty responsive enough and even know a few people that now hate capactive due to being too sensitive. Multi touch is nice for somethings but then that would ruin the single handed use you mentioned earlier surely? |
