Re: N900 Owners Thread (First impressions, ...)

I have an N900 on loan for a week and here are my first impressions:

1) This is an amazing device - that needs to be said upfront. The hardware on this particular device functions perfectly.

2) Battery life is bad - I have barely taxed it and am already at 75%.

3) Touchscreen is very responsive, but it still needs some optimization tweaks from Nokia.

4) The 2 apps I've downloaded & installed, Hermes and MaStory, are excellent. Major kudos to the devs.

5) In a span of 1.5 hours the keyboard began 'making sense.' It also feels great.

6) The screen is gorgeous and not too small.

7) Xvid files I've downloaded play perfectly.

8) Being able to make a Skype call and have it feel like a cellular call is AWESOME! For this alone I thank the Nokia gods.I should mention that I am not a phone power user, so 2 profiles are fine for me. The phone app is great for me - I have no complaints.

So - all in all - I feel that this device is perfect for me. I am definitely buying another charging cable for work - and another battery.

For me and my needs, Nokia has hit a homerun!

Re: N900 Owners Thread (First impressions, ...)

I got my N900 yesterday, installed a lot of applications and i found the N900 very stable, more so than my N810.
And it's very very fast in loading, browsing, etc. Email works fine. I put a screen of google wordproc. and google spreadsheet on the desktop, works fast enough for me...

Overall it is even better than I expected, after lurking on many sites for the last months!!

One thing: What i would like is syncing Google calender to the N900 calender though. I could get contacts using PC Suite from Outlook 07, but no other data. It states that the N900 is not yet supported. I wonder if google calender online will be fast enough in practise..

Indeed. It works really well now! The animations are smooth and i can easily run multiple programms! The only bad thing left is that I didn't had to restart it because it reboots itself every now and then. I can't repoduce it, sometimes i browse a website, sometimes i place or remove a widget from the desktop and sometimes i don't do anything at all and it suddenly reboots. :/
Can this be an hardware problem or will this become better with the next update?
All in all i have to say that i'm really happy now thought. :)
Yesterday i called my dexktop PC over XMPP, I called a friend over Skype and an other friend called me over GSM! Take that iPhone!
I love the way everything is integrated!

I found that out of the box, GPS is on. Turning it off will make battery life better.
Also the facebook app uses quite a bit of cpu power every time it autoscrolls, which will have an effect on your battery life as well. As long as you don't have the facebook app in the display which is showing there is no such effect, however, so make sure you switch to a different screen after you've checked the app.

since when does it do that??
Not at my place and i do MISS that feature greatly!

I want to have an option on Album Artist .. And then under that the albums of the artist..

I work like that in any setup (for example with my Windows Media Center setup)

Can anyone tell me how to disable this annoying "click" sound when touching the screen? Tried disabling it in the main profile but it didn't work..

Believe me you don't want to experience what I am experiencing. it doesn't show both album artist and song artist. It just shows album artist. So on all my compilations I just get Various Artists. Most annoying thing ever. If I am listening to a song on the device I can't check who sang it.
