Re: wormux on n900

meaning no disrespect to the author of wormux, a game i have played and enjoyed, but i would like to see hedgewars on the n900 as well. :)

Re: wormux on n900

Hedgewars is written in Free Pascal and I'm not sure they have armel target yet (yes, I tried getting the compiler running in SDK with no luck).

Re: wormux on n900

yes! hedgewars is sooo much playable :)

wormux is nice, and does have nice graphics, but the gameplay is a little bit off.

Re: wormux on n900

Yeah, Hedgewars is much better than Wormux in my eyes so it would be nice if there would be a port...

Re: wormux on n900

Wormux isn't playable on n900. I only achieve 1-2 fps and it's really laggy.

Then you have some problems with your N900. Try rebooting first. Disabling music makes it faster too.

I found that when I first started it up originally it would be laggy. But after I stopped it and tried again it plays perfectly. The only time it lags is when I blow up someone with a full bakooza blast and they go flying. The game can't keep track of where they are so it jumps from the blast to them dropping into the ocean lol.

such a simple game should run flawlesly on device this powerfull.
But thanks for the tip. I'll try it out and see what happens.
I am doubtfull cos I haven't experienced any performance issues in other applications like openarena.

yes, Wormux is not very efficient. But 1-2 fps is not normal. OpenArena is not very good comparison because it uses powervr for graphics.

I noticed that Wormux got little faster after i disabled Calendar widget.

is this game like 'worms'

is it as feature rich?

DaSilva 2009-12-19 00:55

Re: wormux on n900

It is not exactly like Worms but it comes close. I think Hedgewars is the better game if you want to have a "Worms feeling". You can test both games also on your PC: http://www.wormux.org/ http://www.hedgewars.org/

Re: wormux on n900

The Hedgewars developers are creating a port for the iPhone and I have already asked them for a N900 version. It would be nice if you could do the same (so it gains more importance): http://www.hedgewars.org/node/1946

Re: wormux on n900

It writes me the cpp cant open the /opt/maemo/usr/games/wormux/menu/background.png file

My /usr/share/games/wormux-data directory is a symbolic linked directory that is on the internal large storage, not on the rootfs, maybe the app cant handle symbolic linked directories.

It could be great if the app files wont be installed into the rootfs in the future.

Re: wormux on n900

oh I love this!
were multilayer maps available in the old version?
I think not....
this gets better and better.
can't wait to come home to make the new video. comparing it also with the old one.
the startup time and level-load time is also MUCH faster...
amazing.
i would love to be able to scroll using the mini map....

What fixed it for me:

Uninstall,
Re-install the 50MB version
Then check for updates and download the ~73MB version(update)

-0maemo1 version doesn't work when updating from old version, it was available only from extras-devel.

-0maemo2 should work with updates ( I didn't actually test it yet) and it's available from extras-testing

Re: wormux on n900

Re: wormux on n900

Not sure why - but recent updates have really killed the speed on wormux. I am lucky to get 3 - 10 frames a second now, down from 20+

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Try rebooting.

And since there seems to be more than 2 testers, please vote on the package QA page. See instructions from http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-testing

I will give that a shot - though I have rebooted several times since installing the software.

That did it - wonder WHY it did it.

Re: wormux on n900-Jetpack, antigravity, etc

Do the non-weapons items in Wormux function? I selected the jetpack, then tried antigravity, but couldn't figure out how to use these things.
