When I'm trying to extract it, it keeps saying that file is damaged or can't be extracted. With Winrar I can see that there's two text files inside, but nothing else. I've already tried to download the file again but it doesn't help.

The other package works, but with errors also. WMware wont run the .vmx file though, saying 'The file specified is not a virtual disk.'. But maybe that is because I don't have the other needed file?

That's only part 1, you need part 2 as well.
Also use 7zip, if you don't want to use this, then get HJSplit, join the 2 files with HJSplit, then use Winrar to extract.

Oh, didn't realise I have to join the files first... Now it's working, thanks! :)

You can use VMWare Player or Server instead of VMWare workstation (without "bending" license agreements  )

Player can be got from here - http://www.vmware.com/products/player/
Server from here - http://www.vmware.com/products/server/

with Server you will need to apply/download a license key.

Server is closer to Workstation than player (Server has more configuration options)

or just use virtual box its free, open sourced and worked FAR better than VMware for me and had a tiny install.

just a note, there was a dependency missing from one of the repositories as it wasnt supporting intrepid any more

I use opensuse 11.2 64bit

1. install Debin 32bit under vmware
2. install scratchbox (vmware Debian)
3. install Maemo 5 beta 2 SDK (vmware Debian)
4. start scratchbox, update and upgrade with apt-get
5. install nokia -binaries
6. exit from vmware (Debian)
7. mount the Debian's vmware virtual disk image (vmware-mount)
8. copy /scratchbox to you opensuse filesystem
9. enjoy developing under opesnsuse! :-)

Hrw, I haven't used this particular recipe to setup the SDK, but in general, no, that is not normal, and doesn't occur in my SDK setup.
