Sorry for posting again, I have let my n900 to install debian and I went to sleep. After I woke up it was installed and when I have tried to acces debian LXDE it said that it cannot acces the image because it is not mounted or something like that. Now I have deleted the image file and I am downloading debian-m5-v2-rootfs.tgz. Should I do with this one like I did with the other ?
P.S. I uninstalled easy-chroot and easy-deb-chroot wich I have reinstalled now.......

-The wiki still has some info that may only apply to older devices.

-To minimize a program just click on its icon on the taskbar.

Bummer, I was getting ready to try OpenOffice Base when I realized it wasn't installed. I tried installing it with apt-get but that led to a series of upgrades that ended up leaving me with a broken OOo. I am now re-downloading the image. Could I make a request for OpenOffice Base for the next image. Please ... ; o))

rm42: OpenOffice base wasn't working, so I didn't include it. I wish they'd fix OpenOffice so that we could upgrade safely... :(

MisterSorin: debian-m5-v2-rootfs.tgz is for installing into a dedicated partition. You want debian-m5-v2.img.ext2.bz2 instead. Sorry you're having such a rough time of it. Generally those times, for me, are also good learning experiences, though...

andyph666: The N900 doesn't have a concept of "minimizing" an application. You go to the dashboard (Ctrl-backspace if there's no other way) and select an app to show on the screen.

I suspected as much. Well, at least you were able to come out with an image on a fully functional state.

Do they have website? (Who are they by the way?)

I thought he was talking about minimizing applications inside LXDE, which does allow for minimizing apps as I explained above. Oh well, one of us gave him the answer he was looking for.

rm42: "they" in this case are the Debian openoffice.org maintainers.

Can someone file a good bug over at Debian about this? You can come back here and post a link to your bug if you need support from your fellow armel distro users!

EDIT: You would need to install and use the "reportbug" app.

About the problems in upgrading openoffice.org, I have found the following from the debian and the ubuntu bug trackers:

debernardis: Well done. It looks like we only had OpenOffice because they use a kludgy workaround, which no longer works.

The Ubuntu bug is wonderful! It gives us a workaround! All you need is to copy one file from a working openoffice.org install to the broken one, and everything works again!

The magic file is: /usr/lib/ure/lib/libgcc3_uno.so

I have tested and confirmed that this works. Also, it seems like the upgraded version starts a lot faster for me! :eek:

EDIT: I definitely see the speed increases you were talking about with the new version. One minute to a responsive OpenOffice writer document!

I have installed debian the second time and I still get the same error. It says:

EZ-CHROOT ERROR

Mount failure!

/home/user.MyDocs/debian-m5-v2.img.ext2 failed to mount on loop0

/proc/misc: No entry for the device-mapper found
is device-mapper driver missing from kernel?
Failure to comunicate with kernel device-mapper driver.
Incompatible libdevmapper 1.02.20 (2007-06-15)(compat) and kernel driver
Command failed
mount: mounting /dev/dm-0 on/.debian failed. No such file or directory.

What can I do to resolve this error ?
