Set a colorful image to the background.
Take a shot 90 degree angle.

N900 has an LCD. That's why it's visible in sunlight.

Yup, sadly an LCD screen (love my last phones display - AMOLED i8910, now have HD2, LCD, but consoling myself with the WVGA resolution and 4.3inch display).

I'm wrong about what?

Liquid crystals actually interact with the light passing through them, making it possible to affect sunlight overpowering the backlight. OLEDs, being purely semiconductor light emitters, can do no such thing.

I like being able to see my phone display in bright sunlight. I'd love to have a 42" OLED HDTV monitor in my room, but LCD is still more useful for mobile devices for people acquainted with the Great Yellow Ball In The Sky.

Yes, Internet says this like you. And am happy you have eyes with sunlight bypassing system, I dont have them.
