Re: AMOLED or LCD
on "standalone" lcd-screens, you can adjust the color-temperature to "warm" or "cool", which is reddish or blueish respectively.
is that possible on mobile lcd's (like on the n900's) as well? |
Re: AMOLED or LCD
I suggest you to get an N900. This LCD panel is the best compared to other LCD panels!

But after watching this video, i hope nokia will improve N900's display colors. :) |

Without proper colour reference (remember: the recording device AND your monitor screw with the colours) such a comparison is relatively pointless. This only offers relative comparison, like: ...this AMOLED is brighter that the N900 LCD (given they both operate at their brightest setting) ...this AMOLED seems to be toward the blue ...this AMOLED seems to have more contrast What I can't say: "The LCD/AMOLED has superior colours" or "is more natural" |
Re: AMOLED or LCD
that YouTube video is the least objective I've seen. There are plenty of good scientific studies and reviews elsewhere. The N900 has a tinted protective layer that gives the display a different hue than its underlying panel. And everything looks good in the dark. Put that AMOLED in some bright lighting or direct sunlight, and then talk.
The issue has been long settled. AMOLED for power consumption concerns, TFT for visibility in most outdoor or brightly lit situations. Mobility lends itself to outdoors, and if equipped with a proper battery for the application, TFT seems best for my use. In the N900's case, I'd rather a better battery than a screen I can't see in direct sunlight. But we all want what fits us personally, which is why both exist. To each his own... |

Thank you for your clarification! |
Re: AMOLED or LCD
Ive just taken a better video in dark to able to compare clearly the AMOLED and transflective LCD. Here we go:

Re: AMOLED or LCD
And here we go, when we got to know that transflective LCD is failed next to AMOLED display in DIRECT SUNLIGHT! :-)))))))

Re: AMOLED or LCD
if anything failed it was your "testing" "methods"
video in direct sunlight is taken under huge angle and when you watch that video from 2:25 where samsung got 1/3 screen really in direct sunlight NOTHING is visible. also angle is NOT the only issue with this "tests" but regardless, they are so pointless it isn't even funny. at the end of the day FACT is that n900 got great screen, crisp sharp with nice vibrant colour. is amoled looking better? sure but not by much and on other side LCD is better in direct sunlight, but even if that wasn't the case you clearly got no idea how to perform tests especially direct sunlight test which is why you posting this silly videos |
