Old news here, perhaps, but The Reg are reporting that Nokia are shipping the pre-ordered phones first, and only later will the N900 reach the other retailers/resellers.

I spoke to the manager of the london flag ship store at lunch time today. He told me it was general sale 4th dec and monday for all the preorders (which were a priority)

Although I have my doubts about their accuracy, especially as last night I was told friday at the latest (friday 28th) and today they told me no one had received their N900s yet as they weren't available (obviously not seen this thread, then!)

I'll hold out until monday to be deeply disappointed again..

i pray this info is incorrect as i spke to jon yesterday and he seemed pretty sure they were coming in either today or tomorrow that was the whole reason i decided to order with him as it seemed i would get it fairly quickly instead of waiting for nokiaretail/MPD to get there arses into gear (i know its technicaly through MPD ut through the flagship store would get one of their batch not waiting for MPD's batch to turn up) however it now seems im gona have to wait thats what i get for being impatient i suppose

Just spoke to flagship store and now its: if we receive delivery tomorrow you will get it tomorrow. Otherwise you will get monday.

Yeah, I was told by the manager the stock was due today (thursday) for pre order fulfillment friday.. but the couriers let them down (yet nokia.co.uk can ship from netherlands to uk in under a day?!)

He said the stock was due fri, sat or mon for fulfillment monday for pre-orders only.. everyone else was end of next week.. because the pre-orders were highest priority.

I did point out that EVERY other time they'd promised the device within 2 days it had been wrong (end of last week, the twitter post that was pulled, last night) but he *really* assured me it would be monday.... when I received a call...

He did, however, offer to write something down as proof.. I gratiously declined..

Seriously, I doubt it.. it's going to be the 4th isn't it..
DAMN I wish I'd pre-ordered online.. I was just worried about being at home for the delivery..as I very rarely am during the day.

It was much better with the N97, got a weeks notice at least..

Seriously, how often do commercial courier services screw up this badly? not very often..

What is the shipping volume of 150 N900s? I recon I could fit in a damn transit van!!

And seriously.. a day to "scan them into their system"

hands up who'd turn up on their door step to do it for them when the stock arrived!

very unimpressed..

But.. I did speak to the manager, and I did give him the benefit of the doubt.. so.. I'll whine and moan then :)

i just fired off a email to jon the contracts guys to see what he says about it i ordered mine through them but want them to post it to me as im gona be at work so know i need to waita day for post im pretty sure that royal mail delivery parcels on sat but i dont really wana wait until next week i want it like yesterday dammit

I pre-ordered and so did a number of people on around 20/10 and still haven't received them. So you might have been as unlucky as us. At this rate I will probably receive the N900 at same time as you do.

if thats the case then so be it but to be told that i would have my phone by the weekend basically and for 24 hours later to find out it was basically a lie is not ery good the whole reason i signed that contract was for the reason of gettung either today or tomorrow

and as for jon when he could smell a sale coming from me he was rather quick to reply to all emails now when he has me signed up he dont want to get in contact nice work there mate

Did not charge.
Put battery in, turn on, first thing I did was call my other mobile number.
Worked OK! THANK GOD!

Then I plugged it in to charge for the first time. Call again while charging. Worked. Sound quality is the same (I can't really tell the difference)

Hope it helps.

Also I'm using the N97's charger to charge. Doubting the N900's is not good a build and might fry the internals..

I highly recommend everyone follow my steps or risk frying your mic.

DO NOT CHARGE FIRST THEN TURN ON YOUR N900!

I'm going to pop out again for a meeting. Will be back in an hour to check other defects :\

they were sooooo "sure" I'd get it when I was delaying over signing it...

He's replied to my emails today though and here's what he's said

"Hello sir,

We have no updates as yet I will call you when I hear anything. All I can say so far is we still don't have the phone."

and

"No dates yet we really just don't know when it will come in. Sorry."

Your heart must have been pounding at 100 beats when you made that first call I can imagine :)

I just hope the batches that come now are all good and Nokia takes the matter seriously to recall any faulty batches and replace them for the unlucky ones.

Venomrush , what exactly is your logic about mic being fried, when you first charge it ?
So do you think its ok to charge it with the same charger once the software is installed properly on the new phone ?

this is me speculating only but..... i have tried emailing jon and the NFS itself neither have replied so MAYBE they are to busy sorting out all our lovely phones to mail back

i know i know its wishfull thinking but someone needs to be optomistic around here

Mines still at barking but they have added a delivery date of tomorrow!!

Can someone stop spreading the Bo11ocks about charging and not charging and mic/screen, etc. etc. not working.
A battery is a battery it does not have mystical powers to affect other hardware beyond supplying voltages within the range that its chemical reactions allow.
