That's apparently the standard email that everyone gets. So I would be very cross if that was the case this close to release.

edit: @ewan u beat me to it :)

NFS are obvioulsy going to keep some stock for themselfs, if you have a store you want to have items for the shoppers that come in, if you ordered online your order is already late, your already fed up, you never had a dead set date for delivery and the store knows this, think the attitude will be they can wait another week lets keep the shoppers happy. Makes the stores look much better if they have some stock.

If that's the justification they're using, then I hope they really enjoy those new shoppers they're getting, as opposed to all the pissed off MPD customers who won't be coming back, and all the aggravated people who won't be reordering with their anachronistic POS system. (Point of sale? Piece of ****? You decide!)

Hey guys, wow it has been a very long weekend for me, anyway is there anything you would like to ask? As I have said before everyone will get their phone by the end of the week, if you remember I have told you guys last week.

Like me.
Shipping says arrived today near where I live (as all UK orders go through here) and they took all day to scan it after 4pm. UPS c*nts. Sorry I hate them after they stole 2k from me in the past and now take an age. Knowing my luck, I'll get a faulty one too.

I ordered 22nd October after a mess up with the first order the week before. It was ordered on shop.nokia.co.uk

First time I've pre-ordered. I don't think I'll ever do it again. Next time (if there is one) I'll wait for early reports and bugs to be ironed out.

Does this apply to MPD customers who have ordered the phone with a contract;)

I though pre-ordering would be fun - a way of getting it early etc, but never again, it's just too much hassle.

Do MPD online have stock seems to be the main question - if not when are they getting it?

People seem to be hacked off as NFS are sending phones out on vodafone contracts and yet MPD have no stock and dont know when it is coming in?

As of 5pm today, I was told they had no stock and didn't know when it would arrive either

Any light you can shed on this will be great

Message to everybody else - no naming anyone in phonecalls ;)

I'd like to know that too - I've got an open order with nokia.co.uk, but if it gets to the point that I can walk into the Oxford MPD shop, fork over the cash, and leave with an N900 before Nokia actually get the thing shipped I may well switch.

I take it Nokia have been giving you the runaround then as you were expecting deliveries Thurs last week to be shipped to other stores on Fri??
What happened?

N900Retailer, you are an asset to Nokia and the Maemo forum for that matter for easing alot of our quibbles and nerves during these tense delivery periods, in turn helping Nokia keep their customers.

Demand a payrise I say!

As I said, there have been some problems which was out of our control :) but now everything is fine, Nokia has started to fill stocks. No worries.

They do, see their opening times at http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...dex.aspx#nokia. They replied to me in one day so that's pretty good.

I understand that most people are quite tense by now having been in suspense for a long time but I have enough things to keep me busy during the week so waiting till the weekend is not a problem for me.

Not everyone who preordered from Nokia UK mind you.

I preordered from Nokia UK online shop on 19th October, and due to cockups etc. it's still "this order has not yet shipped", with the latest info being they will start shipping this Friday - and they are charging £100 higher than my original order price for the privilege.

Thanks for letting me know about the Oxford MPD shop. I'm in exactly the same situation as you, and I'm keen to dump shop.nokia.co.uk after their atrocious service.

It's tempting at this point to place an order with every major online retailer, and when one of them arrives, cancel all the others.

Just spoke to Chris at NOS about the order I had made. He said that it will definitely be shipped this week but he couldn't give me a specific date. Last week I was told they would receive stock by Wednesday 2nd December. If I dont get a shipment notice tomorrow from NOS im going to cancel my order and go down to the flagship store on Friday.

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

My Amazon UK order just got pushed to December 16th as well.

I think it's pretty likely they won't ship before Jan 2010, that would be 5 months after the announcement of the N900 and 3 months atfer I preordered in October.

I'm cancelling my order and going with a different platform, probably a Motorola Milestone. I have to compromise on too many things to own an N900.

On the offchance anyone from Nokia marketing is browsing the thread

For businesses today, operational profitability is no longer enough: business success is dependant on delivering successful customer outcomes that increase loyalty, and reduce turnover and the associated high costs of customer acquisition. Customer Expectation Management shows how customer expectations exist in every point of contact, driving the necessity for repeatable business processes that align a business with its customers’ success. A process-centric organization with that alignment as their goal can go beyond the mere efficiency gains of process improvement to proactively avoid failures – that is, any missed customer expectations – before they occur, and generate a high degree of customer loyalty."
—Sandy Kemsley, Principal, Kemsley Design and Author, Column2.com

The "customer experience" with the N900 has been a disaster to date. Multiple delays, lack of information, poor retail experience and poor quality control. The only think the N900 has taught me is that Nokia has learned nothing about how to do business or how to interact with consumers.

If Nokia is still around in 12-18 months I'll give Maemo 6 a shot.

Have people actually received devices ordered from NOS?

I'm really kicking myself now as I canceled my NOS pre-order in September in the belief that MPD were actually telling the truth about their exclusivity.

if NOS is shop.nokia.co.uk, then yes, I (pre-)ordered mine 20th oct, and it was delivered last friday.

The icing on the cake was getting the multiple discounts honoured; sim-free at 306 GBP :D

Strictly, they didn't need to do this, as within their terms and conditions they reserve the right to cancel any pre-order.

Whether they let it through deliberately or due to the apparent disarray in their ordering system I don't know. ;)
