Yes people who had pre-ordered early on with NOS have already received their devices. There are some still waiting due to a variety of reasons such as bank/card checks, re-orders, delivery issues etc and those who just ordered late like myself. Since you pre-ordered in September I reckon you would have probably had your N900 already as others who were in a similar position to you have got theirs.

I went up there today and preordered. bought the phone outright, and he said i can collect it friday morning. I suggest anyone planning on queueing up does the same.

I loved the look on Jon's face when I said I wanted to pay it all now, I'm 18 and look pretty young for my age :p

That is what I did yesterday, and i gave them the full amount and can get it on Friday.

I will call in on Thursday as I work almost above the shop and ask if they have actually got the stock in and let you all know.

A note of caution that made me a bit uncomfortable. They told me the 499 that I paid is non refundable and can only be spent in the store so if I dont get it onf Friday I have to wait for them to get it in.

Hi i ordered my n900 on the 24th of october. Does anyone know whether I have a chance of receiving it this week. The wait is just too much now. Anyone else in the same situation?

This whole wait and no knowledg is still bugging me... but can't find any other phone that i'd want :( So N900 it is if it ever gets released on contract :)

I preordered on exactly the same day. Still "This order has not shipped."
I sat on a play.com preorder for a month before that. I wished I'd moved to nokia.co.uk sooner; I'd have my phone now if I had.

with a 186 pages i cannot even skim through that many. so ignore if its been posted

im in sweden this week and so passed through Heathrow and thanks to someone on this board i popped in to the nokia store. i finally got to have a play with the phone. the phone rep said that they had exclusivity on the phone for some weeks and that other will not be getting the phone until late december or next year.

maybe be the usual sales talk but dont know if that effects any other uk orders

I just don't understand why Nokia has stock available in US (presumably they've delivered enough or too many units) when US isn't its main market so somewhere Nokia has got its priorities wrong....

UK/Europe has its most loyal fans who are being deprived of stock at the expense of US! Makes me angry :(

Nokia wants to capture as much of the smartphone market as it can. The US market is where the iPhone and Android dominate so while Europeans might wait US consumers have a lot of choice.

Crikey, what is wrong with Nokia and their staff, I Phoned regent street store and asked when n900 will be available to general public. They said Friday, and i would not need to preorder. I said , will it definately be there Friday, and the lass said PROBABLY. Exact same conversation I had about 4 weeks ago, .... WTF....

I was going to do the same thing, just wait for release day, but didn't want to be ****ed over again like the previous 2 weeks. Preordered today and Jon said I WILL be able to collect friday morning.

It's also ridiculous that they don't accept pre-orders over the phone.

Hi guys,

I'm not interested on the Nokia Retail Store (for the moment) because I've bought 2 N900 with Nokia Online UK and TopCashBack (12% off) which means I will get £120 if everything goes right.

However, I was on the store the last Saturday and I played with the device for about an hour.

During that time I was speaking with the guy in charge to show the device and I asked about when they will have the device on the store and he said on Friday.

I asked "Definitely?". He answered "YES"

Other thing is what will happen the next Friday ;) .

Keep us update with this. I was told (by Jon) that if I quit my pre-order from MPD and order through NFS I will probably get it later. The same was said to other people and that the same stock will serve for both MPD and NFS on a date ordered basis.

It all sounds like nobody knows for sure what's happening or the truth is hidden for some reason...

I could be mistaken but I believe the European one has a different keyboard but the US and UK has the same one. If so it might explain the chronic shortage in the UK.

Yes but my thinking is that they diverted units to the US market late in the game. The UK market has experienced quite a number of unexplained delays while the US market got units early.

Could this big delay not all be down to the fact that vodafone were trying to make a deal for the exclusivity. So while this was going on they just sent them to the us? Maybe it took a month or two for the deal to be setup?

I think we should be in the second batch. Because the lady i spoke to said you are in the second. Hopefully your in the same boat. I was going to order from play.com as well but they delayed the release date so i thought forget it. Try nokia online store. Fingers crossed we're in the second batch and receive the phone by money. ( VERY unlikely, nearly impossible lol)

Last week Amazon Germany set the shipping date to "in 3-4 weeks".

No major difference. it seems the only difference is on the wireless channels, 1-11 in US vs. 1-13 in EU, even tho I did not see many wireless networks using 11-13 channels here in Romania. Maybe someone could statistically say how many wireless spots have those channels.
Warranty might be the only real difference.

As far as I know and read, no. The only differences are regional keyboard layouts ... umlauds, regional characters as in italy, germany, france, poland, etc. Anything else, hardware and software related is exactly the same. I am also considering purchasing an US version and I tried to search for the advantages and disadvantages of purchasing an US version of the phone. The only differences remains the warranty and those missing 11-13 channels limited by software. I don't see it as a major barrier.
Once again, could anyone tell what is the spread of 11,12,13 channels in wireless networks in europe?

No worries - I know exactly what you mean. I've waited many a time for deliveries - looking out the window at the only place the delivery person can go and the next minute the computer says the delivery attempt was made and no one was home!
That's when I'm lucky - it usually ends up saying delivered and the signature is something random and it never got to my house!

It all makes me feel a bit sick - and now with my N900 - I actually got it delivered ok - I was over the moon - until the microphone didn't work - now I have to risk transporting it another two directions in order to get it repaired. A lot of praying to do for me I think!

I ordered from shop.nokia.co.uk on Oct 22nd. So now on top of the cost of the phone, I lose a day's pay (I don't get paid when I'm not at work) as well due to waiting for the UPS man and making sure he doesn't steal the phone like a package getting stolen last time :(
