Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Morning boys and girls,
So another week gone and no new info. Seriously considering binning this. Too many potential issues with this phone that I don't think I'll be able to sort out. I think this may have beaten my limited technical knowledge. |

When I was on webchat with them yesterday I brought up this issue of 'exclusivity' with them and the guy said they were only exclusive for contracts, not handsets. Hmm. I am pretty sure they did not word it that way in their original advertising of the product, though I would have to go back and check on that. If it turns out that I get my handset on the same day that anyone can walk into a Nokia flagship/retail and do the same, I will be mighty annoyed. |

I got mines and it works flawlessly so i'd advise yo to get the device before you turn your back on it lol

Of course I wouldn't have bought the N900 directly anyway. I can't afford to buy it outright especially as I was getting a second T-Mobile contract next year WITHOUT a phone anyway, so this way I get the N900 really cheap. But as others have said, its the lack of communication and clearly Nokia at fault as THEY put MPD in charge of 99% of their retail operations. You give a company exclusive use to setup a retail chain using your company name, you take responsibility for that companies actions. As you so rightly point out, Nokia have a right to exclusivity. However they should make it perfectly clear what those terms are when telling MPD the date their stock will come in, not just leave them guessing. No matter how you look at this, Nokia are the ones who have caused it due to poor communication with everyone envolved. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Its definitely the lies that get me - if you don't know when you're getting it then just say you don't know!
I understand that Nokia get exclusivity etc, but if MPD get contract exclusivity, then its still unlikely they'll be beaten by Carphone Warehouse etc. I'm just going to sit it out - I'm another one in the T-Mobile camp. The deal just makes it too cheap to turn down. I'll wait, and maybe software issues will be fixed in the meantime. Looks like I'm stuck with Symbian for a little longer! Still - you'd think as an official reseller in the UK, Nokia would treat MPD with some respect and keep them posted. I also don't get how different people from MPD seem to say such different things all the time. Anyone have an update from NFS yet? I'd be interested to see when they're expecting them in, as they're actually operated by Nokia! |

the community will be all over any issues like a rash and I too am absolutely steaming about not having the damn thing in my hand but hang in there. In fairness to MPD, there is nothing else to say, they said Dec 3rd, and although I hate it, we are not there yet, and all the speculation is from us wanting the thing early. Alot of people have this phone and have no problems with it, though it is not really a fully featured phone - just dont give up as you will regret it |
