Has anyone ordered through Nokia Retail Guildford (through MPD) and received their N900? My order seems to have sat in the 'Awaiting dispatch' for some time......:(

You need to delete all your cookies/cache etc in the browser, then go to quidco, click the visit retailer to earn cashback link and buy the N900 through that. Sadly, it gives you no indication at all that it's working. But if you go to preferences>privacy>delete individual cookies on firefox, and start typing 'quidco' there should be a cookie from shop.nokia.co.uk that contains the word quidco amongst a load of random letters. If that's there then it has probably worked. Personally I noticed that it showed up on firefox but not chrome, so perhaps use firefox. Don't visit any other websites while you're doing it. I actually did it in a new firefox profile, because I was a bit paranoid that it wasn't working.

Thanks again. Didnt do the cookies part but quidco says it has tracked it - ordered today afternoon :D I definetely owe you a drink if I get the cashback. Order status is 'This order has not shipped'.

W000000000p - good to hear most people are getting them now!!! :) :)
Is that almost all pre-orders completed? anyone still waiting from Sept/Oct/Nov?

I had a funny moment in town today - popped in to get a memory card (Only got an 8gb - enough for me for now :) ) - went into the vodafone store and they asked for what phone, so i showed them, i then pretty much got flash mobbed! - about 15 customers plus all the staff just came over to look at it! - the vodafone guy had to explain to the upset guys looking at it that they do not sell it yet, but at the same time, they all had a good play!

It was a good boy, no slowness, and no bugs (not that I've had any!) - played bits of hellboy2 and Indiana jones, and then put it onto the tv in the store so they could all see :) - the guys in the store can't wait till they get one in hehehehe :)

There was 2 lads there looking at high end smartphones and i think they made up their mind there n then :)

I order mine back in November (1st) and then cancelled. Ordered a Motorola Milestone, had it a week, collected sooo much dust under the screen, I sent it back.

Re-orderd with MPD on Thursday Evening and Received this Morning.

So far the device exceeds expectation, well done Nokia Development on this :)

Hehe - I'm intrigued with the comparison, as i was thinking about getting the milestone... fallen in love with the N900 though :)

jackabite 2009-12-19 15:47

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Dont waste your money on the Milestone, it was an OK device and to be honest has many of the same benefits\issues as the N900. However for what I used a phone\tablet for I find the N900 meets my needs better.

Milestone Pros;
- Keyboard (yes I liked it)
- Google App Store (once fixed)
- Google Apps, Googles Maps, Stars, Voice etc.... all very good and missing from Maemo :(
- Solid Hardware Build

Milestone Cons;
- Browser is slow (ok first firmware)
- Dust collector (doesnt seem like a widespread issue)
- SIM FREE issues around protected apps (resolved now)
- MOTONAV as good as OVI MAPS (ie crap)
- No bbciplayer (beebplayer ok but doesnt play radio 7)
- Screen seemed small in comparison to N900 and iPhone (even tho it was 3.7")
- Music playback is juttery and skips when switching networks 2G\3G, a real let down, Quality was poor as well.
- MS Exchange support doesnt with remote wipe security policy

etc....

Not as cheap as some got it for, but still cheaper than any other (not nokia/mpd) shops are offering, and they aren't even expecting stock until january, so it's doubtful there will be a big drop early in the new year. I ordered it on that deal yesterday evening and it was posted today, and the £100 cashback is tracked in quidco. Much better than MPD who refused to honour the T-mobile contract I ordered in september and suggested I get one of their current vodafone contracts, which are £70 more expensive even if you factor in £20 a month for the extra six months you're locked into the contract.
I've also got a 'giffgaff' (O2) PAYG sim which has unlimited free data until may, which is a pretty good deal.

Hi patstew, What is your order status? Have your received the phone? :)

Alright in hindsight, I know but yu should really have sent it back to MPD, not Nokia Care. I had excatly same problem (but ordered 16th October). Nokia care sent me to their repair centre who couldn't do anything with it so I sent iit back to MPD at the end of last week. Got an email to say they've posted my replacement this morning. This whole thing is a nightmare for some.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

My contract came through from MPD and they forgot to add the "Unlimited Landline" - fortuantely a quick call to Vodafone (great customer service) sorted it out, and I received email confirmation of the correct contract this morning.

So far phone is working great :) - I guess MPD made a mistake as they're busy, it's def worth double checking the contract details and not relying on them getting it right!

I phoned on my lunchbreak today, spoke to a ****ing diamond of a guy and contrary to what I was told on wed 16th AND friday 18th, my replacement was supposed to be sent on MONDAY 14TH! So I asked where the hell it was and he said he would find out.

On hold for about 10 mins (Thats £1.46), he did explain that it would be a while etc as he had to phone the store itself (Reading) and he then tells me the STORE has marked it as sent, but theres no Royal Mail tracking number, so he doesn't know.

Now this guy was good, he told me not to worry, he will find out what the hell is going on and he would call me back, I said unfortunately I would be unable to answer as I cant take personal calls at work. He said he would leave a message.

He called at 5.06pm left a message to say they cant find the phone, neither can the folks at Reading store, so he got a manager to send a new one straight away, and on the voicemail he said it will BE HERE TOMORROW! I doubt it will but he gets 10 points for not talking shite like the other two *****s I spoke to.

I'm still really angry though. Not only do I get a faulty phone but they ****ed up the replacement too. I'll be emailing Karl about this.

@bumblebeetuna:
How long since you recieved the handset? I think they can only take back before a certain time.

Yeah, they would because you have to give them an opportunity to fix it first before it's replaced- so maybe they might not have had it back straight away at all- although i know a few people on here just walked into a store and had it replaced there. Nokia Manchester told me on the phone that I couldn't do that.

now they want me to send a copy of receipt to them,(proof of recorded delivery that i sent back)i got it here, they have my phone since 16th dec.ill wait the 7-10 days turn over and if still nothing i think i'll cancel the contract and direct debit, and start again.

You are not goin to believe this, but my phone hadn't turned up by 3 so I called Nokia to check it had been sent out. They said it had and gave me a Royal mail trackijng number. I checked on RM website- to my absolute gobsmacking surprise it came up as being delivered- but- wait for it- NOT HERE.
So- called Royal Mail- 'Oh, it's been sent to an address in Worksop (S80, rather than S70) and signed for!!!

Nokia say it's out of their hands once sent (and Nokia had the right postcode)- RM want to speak to Nokia and I've just checked to see where the worksop postcode is and it doesn't f*** exist.

OH absolutely terrific- I'm so confused I could cry.

Oh Noob- believe me I've had it up to here. Nokia say they can't do anything until Royal mail have dealt with the claims form, sent something to Nokia, they have sent it back, RM send me a form for me to confirm i never received it- I sign it, send it back, they get in touch with Nokia who send it to their insurance company who eventually cough up- and THEN they can release me a new device.

Just sent an email to Karl Borges- since he's already had one from me a few weeks ago- virtually begging him to find a way to send me a new handset but I'm guessing the answer won't be any different.
