Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Has anyone had an email or spoke to anyone from MPD over the wkend??

Sent a few emails and tried to get on the online chat page but had no luck. Do you thinking they've had enough of us all ringing them and bombarding with them with emails. I'm never using them again.

If I haven't received shipping confirmation by 17:30 UK time on December 4th, I'll be cancelling.

Have a look at my previous post (the one before yours). Just had a webchat. They haven't showed up - they were expected this morning.

They've definitely gotten fed up with us - the person was very short with me and unhelpful (despite me being polite). I will also be avoiding them in future!

Must have been typing when you posted it. They said this to me:

I know that you probably get this a hundred times a day but have you got any update on N900 orders. Are you going to be able to deliver as promised on 3rd? I need to book time off work to make sure i'm in for delivery

Webshop Customer Help says:
I have no information as of yet to give you im afraid. please bare with us.

They'd make great mp's. Never had a straight answer from anyone at MPD, useless.

I've found their online support people short and impolite all along

It's still early, the weather's not particularly nice today maybe their were "leaves on the road" and the delivery has just been delayed by a couple of hours

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Hello all, I just got an email message from MPD stating that they will need my PAC if I want to transer my current number to my new contract, which they said would delay my order. Alternatively, they said, they can connect my new phone with a brand new Vodafone number and dispatch the handset "immediately".

I'm just confused because I only just placed my oreder a few days ago, does this mean they will be dispatching it today? Or does it just mean that they will dispatch is as soon as they can?

No, what they are looking for is an excuse to give for it being delayed.

Ordered mine mid Oct, they sorted out the PAC 3rd Nov and then told me to extend the PAC by a week bcos they only last 30 days, to cover the delay which takes it to 10th Dec.

If they haven't delivered by then I'm cancelling and waiting for X10 which is out in Jan.

What network are you porting from - I'm an existing Vodafone (direct) subscriber and they haven't said that porting my number to a Vodafone contract on MPD (It's an upgrade deal) would delay anything.

As for dispatching "immediately", it's nice to see the mis-information coming from MPD is as inconsistent as always!!

Hehe - erm, i'd take whatever they say with a pinch of salt....
The PAC thing can take a little while, but what i think they meant was it will be dispatched as soon as they get it :)

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

I placed my order on October 25th as an upgrade to my existing contract. They've since stopped offering upgrades at all.

If it all works the way I think it will, I'll get the handset with no SIM card and I'll just need to put my existing SIM card in to activate the new contract. No PAC required, as I'm staying with Vodafone and keeping the same number.

If it turns up with a SIM card, they've clearly not done what I asked them to and I'll need to talk to them before deciding what to do. I don't really want to subject myself to another Symbian based device, but if Nokia and/or their resellers can't sort out the N900 rollout, I'll probably get myself a SIM-free Samsung i8910 from Expansys instead, then see how things go over the next 6 months with Maemo.

I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with all this PAC nonsense as well. Thankfully, the T-Mobile people get to port after the number has been connected, so at least that won't hold me up.

Shipping immediately though... I wouldn't get your hopes up!

Yeah the weather has been awful - you'd think that someone would be in touch with the couriers though!!

Don't Nokia import with DHL who have an online tracking system? They shipped all the sim-free orders to the UK with DHL and then all the customers got a tracking number and could see where they're orders were on-line.

You'd think that if individual customers can do that then a big company that runs Nokia Retail in the Uk could find out to the exact minute when the stock was coming in.

I don't want to keep slating them but unless your a new customer or threaten to cancel your order they treat you like a mushroom.

I think it was UPS that sent out all the pre-orders (I may be wrong!) but yes, exactly! There's no way that thousands of pounds of goods would be shipped without FULL tracking info. They're not that stupid!! (I hope!). So yeah, someone needs to ring up, speak to someone senior, then find out what the tracking update is!

Yeah it was UPS, just checked the thread.

They don't let you speak to line managers, tried it.

They still haven't updated the web site either still showing end of Nov delivery.

Has anyone used MPD before? First and last time of pre-ordering a phone, usually wait for the phone to have the bugs sorted out before i get one.

Yeah, me too. Bit worried, if there customer service is this useless now what's it gonna be like if there's something wrong with the phone? Checked out the other threads and it's a possibility of getting a dud. No stock to send out a new one and no store near me, to get a stand-in while it's sent to Finland to get fixed!!

Thats just ban automated email - I got one.. the word "immediately" would probably be the case if it wasnt a N900, but as this is sent to everyone who needs a PAC (for whatever mobile you purchase) under normal circumstances it probably would be sent immediately.

Just for the record, I just took a voda number and cancelled the whole PAC thing... jeeezz .. I hate to think how much longer you will wait for that...!! (on top of this whole waiting for stock issue..)

Hope you get your N900 pretty quick though like the rest of us. I ordered my about 2 weeks ago, so I (like you) will be waiting that bit longer I would expect, which is only fair on other guys who pre-order this months ago..

Tried that and it didn't work too well, thank god I withheld my number and didn't give them my account number. Might have been pushed to the back of the queue.

The manager gave me the politician's answer of they are expecting to take delivery today and will ship out orders on a first order, first delivery basis as soon as they can.

Wouldn't be specific and wasn't too happy with my sneaky approach, i don't think!

Aye, same here.

This is the first time I've ordered a NIT without going direct to Nokia. Though I do remember a bit of jumping around waiting for orders of the 770 and N810.

Never bought a phone except on contract through people like phones4u/CPW or direct from places like vodafone...

Although i'm thoroughly annoyed with MPD, i have to admit the delays originally where by Nokia, and MPD did send out one official email saying they will send the device on 3rd/4th... So technically - as long as i get it by the 7th - it's only their communication skills i don't like :)
(Same as any company really - well most!)

I'm happy to wait another week, as i've said before, checked out the HTC HD2, the Droid/Milestone - but honestly i can't see them fulfilling my needs like the N900 should.
- so in my case, happy to wait a bit longer until i think something better is out there :)

Yeah, your right but they should keep us better informed if it's not there fault.

If there was an alternative then I'd already have it. That makes it more annoying though, bcos this is the only way to get one.

X10 was the only device that came close and that's not out till end of Jan and even then it could have similar delays with release.

The constant email checking is what's getting me, the fact that it could come early bcos others have there's.

Well that's just done it for me...

Cashclientel in the UK Release Forum got his, on voda contract, from NFS...THIS MORNING.

That means exclusivity on contract has now become a complete lie from MPD.

Yes, except MPD were claiming that pre-orders ONLINE would be sent from their Nokia stores before anyone else. So they should not be supplying from any individual store before shipping out their online orders.

If MPD do not provide the contracts then its even worse, as MPD were outright lying.

Bottom line, the exclusivity is a lie unless they start shipping today as the stock used for pre-orders in store was supposed to be the same stock used for online orders.

What "sign of involvement" would you need to confirm this? MPD is selling contracts within Flagship Store.

All in all, if that one is true (that you can buy N900 in-store from today), then it's actually great news for all of us. Read: we'll get N900 posted very very soon.

No, I'm fully aware of that. I read the forums very carefully thank you... one may even say religiously!

Its just funny that this morning on webchat they denied involvement there outright to me. Also, they've said they'll ship on a first ordered first served basis. Cashclientel ordered in NFS with MPD (for sake of argument) on the 21st... I ordered 1.5 months before him. Therefore, MPD have lied.

If their website claims exlcusivity, which it does, then that's also a lie, as other people who ordered in person got them first.

Bottom line is that its all a lie!

Making it bold does not make it true :)

MPD are saying they have no involvement there, Someone called Jon is saying they do, all i'm asking for is the guy who bought it there, to find a trace of MPD on his statement/receipt etc... - Nokia can go and do it on their own, in a store MPD don't run.... (Rumours and phrases ... hard to decipher either way)

If it's proved that it is definitley them involved then i agree entirely, and we should in theory start seeing MPD shipping notices....

Agree with this one, if MPD have involvement in any way with this one, then they have been lying to us about being first and exclusivity...

The hype is happening because people bought off MPD thinking that they would get the device first, and if people are walking out of the NFS with an MPD supplied contract, having ordered last week, then Im fuming as I ordered 8 weeks ago, based on their first to have it claim...

If there was no sign of the n900 aprt from Nokia direct, Id be happy to wait until the 3rd - its the thought of everyone else having one....

Speaking about MPD's involvement in selling contracts within NFS. Here we go:

1) Go to: http://www.nokiaretail.co.uk/stores/index.htm
2) CTRL-F
3) Type "flagship"
4) See results
5) Go to: http://www.nokiaretail.co.uk/customerServices/about.htm
6) See first line on that page

It can't be explained cleaner, I think.

Plus, if they do have in-store stock for contracts, then I reckon fulfilling online orders is now just a matter of very short time (today/tomorrow).

MPD do not run NFS. However, when I was there last week, one guy working there was pointed out as working for MPD, so he was probably dealing with these contracts.

It still sucks lots though.

That didn't really clear anythig up for me - unless I've missed something?! All it does is list the NFS but says its operated by Nokia directly...not MPD.

First line on that other page just explains how MPD are related (or not as the case may be) to Nokia... but we know that already.

What we DON'T know is that NFS have their contracts fulfilled 100% by MPD. Either way, they have not been exclusive. Sure, we should hope ours will arrive soon, but NFS got theirs in a different, direct from Nokia batch. MPD's shipment is not the same one - so we have to wait for that...which hasn't turned up yet! Not that I'm surprised though!! Lol.
