Both of the things you pointed at actually state that MPD does not operate NFS yet you appear to be trying to use them to state the opposite.

What point were you trying to make evad?! All you've said is that MPD do sell contracts in the NFS... which as we've established, some people would like 100% confirmation from someone with an N900 on contract from there.

The two links you posted, as agreed by other people, simply show that NFS isn't operated by MPD (Which we already knew) and that website deals might not be made available in their stores, of which NFS is not one!

I fail to understand the need for your sarcasm. Maybe I should give up with you instead...! :D

Of course MPD does not operate NFS itself, but they do operate within NFS and sell contracts on Nokia's behalf. Why would they list flagship stores on their page if they didn't?

I thought it was crystal clear until today...

Nevermind then, this rant will go nowhere. Let's just sit back and wait for our toys. Nothing else left (for long time anyway).

hey guys, can't we all just get along and direct our anger/sarcasm at the people who really deserve it - MPD?

Right. Let's just sit back and wait. Seriously, sorry for unintentionally raising this rant, didn't mean to go this way. However once I've read someone bought contract within NFS I got slightly excited, as that would most likely mean online MPD contracts will get posted soon as well.

Heh - we don't hate each other... we're just confusing each other :)

I wish I could make angry phone calls from work...

Has anyone managed to get through to them yet?

I hope so, Evad!! I'll try and give them a non-angry call this afternoon to see if they're in and I'll ask them to check their trackign information so I can get a real answer!

Asked about N900, response:

"We are awaiting them to come in im afriad. hopping they will be here soon!"

asked if they know when the shipment will come in, awaiting answer...webchat is clearly busy ;)

Update: said they are coming 'this week'. Nice...

Asked about the whole exclusivity thing and the fact that NFS are selling them on contract...will update with answer

Ask them if there's an email notification sent to customer when order status changes. That might save us hitting CTRL-R/F5 all the time on their order tracker facility. ;)

Will do, still waiting for a response re contracts available at NFS store...seems to be taking a long time, either we've been disconnected or he's gone off to find the answer...

You won't get one - I sent them a mail and brought that up, and it was the only part of the mail that they ignored..

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

OK - want to rant..
Here is a mail that Im planning on sending - does it look fair and to the point (without swearing??)

Hi there,

I have just returned from a visit to the Regent Street store and can confirm that the n900 is being given out to those people who pre-ordered. The really interesting bit is that they are getting their phones having bought them on contract (vodafone) through the MPD employee who works in store.
He has confirmed that he works for you.
Im sure you are as sick as I am in all the queries and speculation over the delivery of the n900, but this has been caused by the way you advertised the phone.
I pre-ordered from you on the basis that it was exclusive and you would have it first.

At first, you had ‘Exclusive’ and ‘First’ on your website in October which then changed to ‘Exclusive’ and ‘First’ on contract during November.

Now, via the Nokia Flagship Store you are shipping n900’s out on contracts brokered by MPD to people who have ordered in-store as late as last week. I pre-ordered from you in Oct on the basis that you would be first, and that I would get my order before someone who ordered it last week.
I would be happy to wait until your stated date of Dec 3rd/4th if there weren’t people walking out with MPD contracts today – can you please explain what is going on, as I feel that I have been lied to and that your company has not delivered what it was advertising to do.

Seem fair to you guys...

Edgedemon. Well done I'd have probably used a few more Fs or Cs.

Bet you don't get a response for 24hrs. And then it'll be a standard answer.

Exactly. I've noticed quite a while ago that sending MPD emails is just a waste of time. :(

I got a response only after resending the same email each time with the additional "THIS IS THE 3RD EMAIL WITHOUT RESPONSE" bit using caps and bold. Then finally I threatened to copy BBC's Watchdog in on the mail and got a reply. I would suggest a similar threat involving Trading Standards regarding advertising "Exclusivity" would also work.

My main moan is that I don't mind waiting I was checking my order was ok as it was still showing as "New" rather than "Pending Stock"... they seem to think everyone is after eta's and therefore ignore everyone.

Personally I'm giving them till December 3rd plus shipping before I start to get really pissed off.

Hehe i've only sent one email in and i got a response within an hour - but then the response was rubbish and they didn't acknowledge half my questions.....

Watchdog probably won't look into it unless they get hundreds/thousands of requests. The trading standards should - especially over the exclusive claim - but probably wouldn't over the poor service part :(

Good to see you're all keeping a good record of contact with them though :) - best way :)

I have a case number with the ASA as I have already complained to them about the false advertising.
I would like everyone to do the same as the more people who do it the harder they will investigate. It won't get our n900's to us any quicker, but it will stop them doing this again...

Hi Moley,

If you don't mind answering - what did MPD say about your order status of "new".
I'm interested because mine has been "New(Other)" since I ordered (Sept 23) and after three emails I still have not had a reply.
I'm desperately trying to convince myself that a status of "new(Other)" - does not mean "ignore-this-order" :(

Bidybag 2009-11-30 14:54

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

"New" means the Credit Check has not been completed. You probably have a bad credit rating so it cant be processed.

My MPD order states "new other" however I ordered sim free so no credit check to be done

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

To be fair, I'm sure if MPD shipped this week and stuck in a free little charger or bluetooth headphones like NFS not too many people would be bothered with their lack of communication and exclusivity claims.

I wouldn't be too fussed, but then again the times I've emailed them I've received generic rubbish not really answering any questions and nothing but short answers on live chat.

It's understandable that MPD are getting swamped and Nokia wasn't too helpful but if they didn't give exclusive claims and say every week "deliveries coming this week!" we wouldn't be too fussed.

The thing is I can only imagine the amount of customers the N900 brought to MPD as they were the only people offering the N900 on contract as pre-order. Following the current situation alot of the custom they've gained has been lost again and I really can't see many people recommending them. I wouldn't.

PhilE 2009-11-30 15:43

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Interesting how they seem to be processing orders in different ways. I ordered on Oct 25th - upgrade to my existing contract, 18 months, £39 per month, £77.98 up front including £3.99 delivery. I saw the £77.98 being held on my bank account, i.e. difference between actual balance and available balance was £77.98. This lasted for about 5 days and then went away. I've not seen a transaction for £2 or any other amount since then from MPD and my order went straight to 'pending stock'.

This has been the first time I've pre-ordered anything, I think I can safely say it will be the last.
