Certainly, for the high price tag, I think I need to feel there's a competent organisation behind the device, and I'm not really getting a good sense of control or stability from the company over this fairly craptacular launch, coupled with Ovi etc. Still think the 900 is an interesting device, but I think it's not really for me right now.

I'm now 100% happy I cancelled mpd yesterday - cancelled them out of pure anger.... This morning NOS email me to say it's in stock and they are sending out my order!

MPD don't deserve any money here, but I still can't abandon nokia :)

Just ordered with NOS, so will probs be canceling my MPD order very soon :)

I ordered from MPD on 26/11/09. Do you think I'll have the N900 before 24th Dec? (that's when my PAC code expires)

yeah, in the same situation...I'm sorely tempted to go a little crazy on my credit card and buy the device sim-free, but I know I would regret it in the coming months (or at least my family would as they would be stuck eating spaghetti hoops for a few weeks ;))

Buying outright is a bit more expensive, but I've just about hhad it with the Muppet Procrastination and Deception store.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

A friend of mine I mentioned few posts back, who ordered HD2 with MPD yesterday got it delivered just few moments ago (less than 24hrs after placing na order). According to his words, SIM card wasn't put to the phone itself, it was in a separate box (apart from phone factory box).

Just a clarification how contracts work with MPD, as I was told by MPD chat some time ago that SIM card is going to be in the phone, which made me thinking that would be another blocking factor to fulfill the orders. Apparently, it isn't.

Btw, keep cancelling your MPD orders, guys. That gives the rest of us in better position once these delivery batches arrive. ;)

hi guys can i point something about MPD say that they are the only ones offering the n900 on contract this is true although i ordered and have recieved my phone from NFS on contract which by the way was from MPD as i just recieved a text from them telling me i need to confirm or activate my 3 month free insurance whcih i dont plan to do

so when they MPD said they will be the only people to offer it contract this is true NFS have a MPD contract sales (jon( at NFS the difference is that my handset was sent to me from the NFS stock and not from the MPD stock

hope this clears some things up if you want me to explain more i can try lol

p.s i hope you all get your phones soon the thing is amazing aint put it down for the last day

why?

how much is it from Nokia right now? less than the £467 i will pay on 18month contract with T-mobile?

And even if it were, what price do you put on 18 months of free data, as well as 100mins/100texts?

I agree, i think i'm paying nearer £650 with my contract on voda, but unlimited text's and internet, decent signal and loooadsa minutes - also i can afford it over a period of 18 months but not in 1 bulk payment :P

Hehe - still gotta giggle at that :) - and good luck with the communication with them - i really hope for you, that the device is fine and you don't need to use that communication route :)

not that i want to turn this into a pissing contest, but; i will be paying £20/month too, only difference is the unit costs £112 from MPD rather than ~£450 from nokia..............

I Hope so two, still don't quite understand or beleive the story of 3 batches - or that they will get them this week. but i would love to be proved horribly wrong :)

I'm hoping to be in the first 'batch' and really really hoped i would get it on friday, but i doubt it :(

Right. Again, let me ask - can you spare me £499, so I can buy sim-free? Thanks in advance.

You don't get the point. I am and most of us are perfectly aware (I suppose) that getting contract makes it way more expensive in long run. However, since I currently have no £400'ish in my wallet to spit out on the device, I've had to go for contract option. Simple as that.

Side note, however I am annoyed with MPD for their poor customer communication, I genuinely believe that they are pretty much same annoyed with all of this, and I reckon they want to get this sorted asap too. Seriously guys, I think all the N900-hype that happens as we speak has surprised all Nokia, MPD, NFS and all other parties involved. Yes, at the end of the day we, end-users are paying money for these devices, and I admit we deserve better interaction, but on the other hand blaming everything and everyone around won't make things faster, imho.

Sorry not at the moment (I don't think so anyway)

But January/February may bring the phone to Carphonewarehouse,Phones4u,Vodafone direct, etc etc....

Edit - possibly through the London Nokia Flasgship store direct, still through MPD - but still a possibility - you would have to go there though

It doesn't always, unless you want to change service provider mid-term.

No it doesn't. It's still cheaper to get a contract if you factor in any kind of sensible calling/data plan. The ONLY downside with a contract is that you're tied into a contract and provider for that period of time. Which for some could be a deal breaker.

I think all MPD orders around and after that time are still showing as new? - i think that probably means at the time they realised they may not have enough stock straight away. I wouldn't panic too much. Keep an eye on this thread as i would expect that to change to pending stock or straight to dispatched in the next week. I wouldn't expect the phone anytime sooner then next weekend though :| (Again, hope i'm wrong!)

also, saw this post on o2 forum - this guy seems to make a lot of sense;

"People who ordered on T-mobile will have their pre-orders honoured.

the device is exclusive to Nokia Online Shop, Nokia Flagship Stores & Mobile Phones Direct until Jan 2010. This is further confirmed by Play.com moving their pre-order expected date to 31/12/09 and buymobilephones.net (who were offering on O2 & Orange) delisting pre-orders & showing as coming soon... Incidentally those who pre-ordered from buymobilephones.net are now told to wait until January as well."
