As I posted in another thread, if you have already pre-ordered you will get it this friday from NFS but pre-order now and you'll get it 4th december as all incoming stock has been allocated for pre-orders!.

I understand what you are saying, if I did cancel, it would be to transfer my order over from MPD web to MPD NFS, as the guy said that it might be possible, based on the fact that they had promised that they would be first and I could argue that they were not..
I would check carefully before doing this though!!
Cancelling is a last option, but even if I did have to wait until the 4th, Im not losing out as MPD aren't shipping until the 3rd, so I wouldn't get it until the 4th anyway..

I just pray that I'm not in the minority (assuming it's minority) that have a mic problem or rebooting problem, when it finally arrives!

no new info sadly, keep checking my order on MPD and still getting the 'pending stock' sign. I'm still unclear exactly in what order devices are going to be shipped/sold from MPD/Nokia Retail/Nokia flagship stores. I know Nokia flagship stores are now saying 4th December for in-store purchase because they have to clear pre-orders first, but are MPD pre-orders included in those pre-orders or not. If so, we should be getting them before 4th December.

Like you, I'm beginning to get a little bored of this waiting game and obviously worried about potential hardware/software issues. I mean, can you imagine how long it would take to get a replacement from MPD if it isn't working properly? It doesn't bear thinking about..still I'm going to contact them today to find out if there's any update, but I'm not particularly hopeful. I still reckon we'll get them on December 4th or even later. God, they really are a dodgy company, if I hadn't got the T-mobile contract with them before the quota was filled I would definitely cancel my order and try and get it elsewhere..

This +1
But Im seriously thinking of trying elsewhere anyway..

I don't think we can really hassle MPD until tomorrow, if stock arrives at the NFS, as then there will be an arguement that they are not the first...

I want to take part in the n900 threads that are springing up from the people that have got theirs...

Amen to that, at the moment I feel like I'm just an annoying whiner going on about MPD and the fact that my N900 hasn't been delivered :(

+1!

I really am getting fed up with myself now! lol - I am an annoying whiney *****!

My phone simply cannot turn up any later than mid-afternoon on Dec 4th because that's when I've off for a whole week! and won't be around to play with it! arg! Though if that does happen and it's delivered say 7th my OH will be able to collect it from royal mail. Meaning I'll have to entrust her to open it on the Thursday night and start charging it, so when I get home on the Friday evening it's had nearly 24 hours charge time and no excuses for me not to switch it on!!

I read that you need to charge it for 12 hours but surely you can switch it on while it's charging??!? There's no way I would manage to bear that!

You don't have to, but potentially the battery will have trouble reaching its maximum capacity if you do not do full charge/drain cycles the first few times before starting the normal "top up" routine.

That's what I plan on doing!

TBH, I am not sure how necessary this is these days, with various advancements in battery technology (plus it doesn't tell you to do it like it did in the old days, plus the batteries tend to come at least partially charged too). But it can't hurt can it?!

Alex Atkin UK 2009-11-26 10:33

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

The batteries HAVE to come partially charged, as if they are left for a long period fully charged or nearly empty, that is what breaks them. Presumably that is why you have to run them through the cycle too, so that you kick them back into working order.

I would imagine it all depends on how long they have been left in storage. I know I didn't do the cycling on my iPod Touch and its totally out of whack now, so I may be more careful with the N900.

I didn't do it on my Xperia X1 either, but that was Lithium Polymer so perhaps not subject to the same issue.

I too have ordered from MPD and have been less than impressed by their lack of communications but has there actually been any confirmation yet that the N900 will be available from any other retailer on contract?

Either today or tommorrow their will be n900's on contract for vodafone for all those people who pre-ordered from the NFS

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Jumping back to the memory cards - today is my payday and I'm going to buy one (even though my N900 isn't here yet)... Does anyone know anything about the classes of the ones posted on here? I've seen mayny sandisk 16gb's that are class 2. Class 6 would be nice, but they're a bit pricey from what I can tell... Any help would be great.

By the way - did you see on the UK thread that NFS are now saying 4th December instead of today? I wonder if we'll be seeing more delays ourselves...

I thought that was what had been said earlier in the week, that MPD would get the stock today but not ship until Monday. I really hope it is wrong and they ship today/tomorrow but I fear its correct.

yep, trying the same but no response at the mo.

Ok, some idle speculation. They've got them today..presumably they need to do some network checks (is that right?). then they start working through the pre-orders - hopefully in the order they got them - and sending them out. Very slim possibility of tomorrow since they use Royal Mail special delivery, slightly better possibility of Saturday (Royal Mail SD do deliver on Saturday I understand). Ok, I appreciate this is all wishful thinking, but that's all I've got at the moment....I'm still bracing myself for a delivery at the end of next week...:(

Can I suggest we nominate a live chat spokesperson? The rest of us can then stop hasseling MPD, who in turn can then box up and send out my phone. ;)

In front of me...I ordered on 21st October. When I spoke to them though shortly after ordering it didn't seem that they had had that many orders and they were sure that they would have enough stock to cover all pre-orders. Fingers, toes and various other parts of my anatomy are firmly crossed...

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

If 'N900retailers' information is correct (things might have changed from the time of posting), they were to receive stock today and ship Monday. I hope they ship tomorrow though... mine still says pending... probably not updated yet.

Could be they don't want to announce they have stock in (unless they are asked directly) people will want them shipped today / tomorrow if so.

Just had this brief chat with a MPD guy on live chat.
Nothing much but thought I'd post it anyway.

Webshop Customer Help says:
How can I help?
Rhos says:
Hi
Rhos says:
I am wondering if you have the Stock of the N900 in yet - I am wondering if it is possible to collect it in a store rather than have it delivered?
Webshop Customer Help says:
No unfortunately not
Rhos says:
Is that No to both questions? :(
Webshop Customer Help says:
yes unfortunately :(
Rhos says:
Ok, thansk anyway

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Just managed to get through to MPD on the phone for the first time ever!!! So I was a little suprised to hear someones voice the other end!

I played a bit dumb and said I pre-order my N900 back in september and just wanted to check when I'm going to get it.

He mentioned the email, I again played dumb and said I haven't received it. He gave the standard "end of the month" reply, to which I said "so now then?..." he basically re-iterated the end of the month.

I asked him directly, "Do you have it in stock yet?" to which he replied "No".

I shall try the webchat thingy again, in the hope that they are more well informed and the chap on the phone was wrong.

Even if they have got them delivered this morning, I'll be happy enough with them posting it on Monday!

29th sept here - crossing fingers toes and all things crossable! (Even my moobs are trying!)

I'm still sure that 3rd/4th is gonna be the date - don't beleive they have em in stock until my order says "In Stock - being Shipped - Blah blah"

(Willl be very very happy if it turns up sooner though!)

This coming from a company who previously said "latest the end Nov" and "latest 16th Nov", do I really take them seriously?

Haha - you probably shouldn't, although, seeing as NFS are now getting theirs in on the 4th, maybe there's MORE delays and that MPD are now getting them in on the 4th too...which would mean another delay...!!

Im waiting till the NFS have it in stock, then I will be on the phone to them as there will be proof that they are not the first, and I want to know where my damn phone is. I ordered mid Oct, so hopefully will be up near the front..

Just to quote 'N900retailer' again:

Quote:

Yes main delivery comes from Salisbury and it wont be shipped on friday because, other than 3 stores wont get their stock before monday and delivery will start on monday.
Salisbury would be the best bet for people in the know. Don't all go phoning them up though. It's not making the phone come any faster. Lets just go off from the 4th until we hear something concrete.

normal service has been resumed..

Just spoke to a friendly guy on MPD webchat and they still haven't got them from Nokia and he says they can't get any definite info from them about when they will arrive.

BTW, just out of interest they have taken approximately 800 pre-orders at MPD...so god knows how long it will take to ship them out once they do get them in..

Dexter1759 2009-11-26 12:02

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Interestingly, I just had this email reply to a complaint I emailed MPD the other day. Primarily, regarding the lack of communication and the fact that they said 16th and, fair enough, it was delayed beyond their control but it took 3 days for them to send out "the" email! Also, had a problem with webchat in which numerous messages I sent and the person sent to me simply weren't displayed at my end. Which caused frustration on both sides, at the time not realising it was happening (until I had the emailed transcript).

Anyway, here's their reply:

Quote:

Dear Mr ********,

Sorry if you feel that you are being mislead. I can only assure that your order will be fulfilled as soon we have stock ready for you.

You are more than welcome to cancel the order, however, we do not want to lose your custom and also as there are many people out there ordering from different websites.

We ask you just to be patient and to persist with us just a few more days, as previously advised, the stock shall arrive on the 3rd.

With regards to the web chat – you are correct it is something that i myself cannot correct. This technical glitch, i can only assume is due to the number of chats that take place on each of our PC’s. Sometimes we have members of staff taking maybe three or four chats at any one point, and as this system is relatively new, and also to us, our computer system is having difficulty keeping up. This issue has been provided to our head office to look into – i can only apologise.

In every case of dates changing on our website, as soon as we have had information, the website has been changed. We honestly did not know of the delay before the 16th – this, amongst other things, have caused some of our customers to be driven away, although it is a situation that is out of our hands. This is also a learning curve for us as well but unfortunately when you try to sell a handset that has not been released, obviously we were going to have many issues, but we had no idea how much of a backlash this would cause us.

I hope this has given some insight and provided you with a bit of knowledge of what are trying to correct.

Kindest Regards and Sincere apologies.

Sebastian

The web dept.
Not sure why they mentioned canceling, I didn't even suggest that I would!

Maybe they are hoping that everyone will cancel and this whole fiasco will finally be over. lol
