Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Same scroll down problem after pr 1.2
|
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
I also have the scroll down problem and it doesn't speak at all.
I'll try to uninstall completely with dpkg --purge and reinstall it again... |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Must be a daemon thing. Test buttons work fine.
Something PR 1.2 overrides? A re-install should fix that. |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
a reinstall does not fix it ,
i flashed the phone with flasher + emmc and my back up did not have application list, did fresh install of espeak and have the same problem no scrolling, and delay |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Mine works perfect, except i cant scroll down, and i have some delay when someone is calling. Hopefully they will update this great app soon.:)
|
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
How much delay? Mine is quiet-quiet.
|
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
is this a bug? : if you open the media player play a song and pause and keep the mediaplayer open in the dashboard/background, the espeakcaller doesnt speak out the number out any longer till the media player has been closed again.

Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Not working for me even reinstalling from scratch.

Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Hi Arto !
I know you are extremely busy, but could you have a look at the GUI of e-speak caller please ? Due to the pr 1.2 update, some libs most probably changed as the interface has no scrolling, therefore s-speak caller became unusable. Other applictaions has smae issues, btu as far as I know fix did not took horribly lots of time. Could you have a look at it please as many people eagerly waiting to use it again ? Many many thanks fro your time and help, Andrew |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Here also the scroll down bug;(
I also noticed that having both recaller and eSpeakCaller installed, then after a call, all widgets can't be clicked anymore! This doesn't happen every time, though. I have to reboot or switch to a different desktop via DesktopActivityManager. I disabled eSpeakCaller, and the unclickable-widgets-problem didn't occured since 3 days... So a eSpeakCaller bug? Anyone here having the same problem? |

Replied in the other thread you posted. Also, scroll up. We all have the no-longer-fits-in-window bug due to PR 1.2. |

Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
You'll have to speak with the developer about that, assuming he comes back, or with whoever takes over development, should anyone do so.
Shouldn't be too hard, all the pieces are there, I assume 1.2 messed with DBus messages. |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
i found a new bug:
if i go to silent mode and get a call and later on go back to general profile and someone calls, the volume increases when the the ecaller starts "overriding" but fails to speak out the callers name! had to reboot one more thing: how many rings on average does it take till its starts speaking? takes a bit long on mine...would be nice if it could start sooner |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
REQUEST MBROLA FOR ESPEAKCALLER
mbrola: http://tcts.fpms.ac.be/synthesis/ voices: http://tcts.fpms.ac.be/synthesis/mbrola/ n900 binary: http://tcts.fpms.ac.be/synthesis/mbr...nux/mbrola.rar usage: espeak -v mb-en1 "%text%" | mbrola -e /mbrola_voice_directory/en1/en1 - - | aplay -r16000 -fS16 in this case you should generate a text file for easier parametering: espeak -v mb-en1 -f generated_text_file ... |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling

|
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling

a) sometimes it speaks out the name of the caller, 5 minutes later it doesnt (of the same person/number) - it seems random at times although nothing is changed in between b) sometimes it speaks out the name after the first 2 rings, sometimes very late - very random! any idea what could be causing this / how i can resolve this issue?? |

AttributeError: eSpeakCallerDaemon instance has no attribute 'eSpeakProc' |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
after few phone calls and hitting mute speakers when headset connected and unselecting it and restart and works perfect

Hmm. It works if you add voice for one contact. All contacts isnt working but add text for John Doe. Like "Johnnie is calling" and it works.
So is %first% broken? |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Now a days, it is not difficult to check who is calling me because the Internet has really made is easy to do it. The Internet is the most effective way to check who is calling me. There are many companies on the Internet which offer the service for tracing phone numbers. You can use these services to check the name and address of the caller. Some resources would also give you the other phone numbers in use of that person. It would not take more that 15 minutes to check who is calling you on your phone number.
If you want to check who is calling you and want to get accurate information then you would have to select a resource sensibly. Since the Internet is an open platform and anyone can go on it and provide its services that is why there are also some undependable resources. So, you have to be vigilant while choosing a resource for your exploration. A good way to perform a research about a phone number is to utilize the paid services. The companies which offer paid services they also promise provision of faultless information. That is why I recommend everyone to use the paid resources. If you want to check who is calling you then you should have a valid credit card. Approximately all the resources would require payment by a credit card. Before starting your research you should check the requirements of the resource and also confirm the cost of research. This would be helpful to perform an even research. Some resources might ask you for your identification details. Usually the resources offered by the government would ask for this sort of information. The government asks this information in order to ensure that no one uses the obtained information for unlawful purposes. If you want to check who is calling you then it is good to perform an online research. However, if you have been thinking to perform this research in order to intrude the personal information of a person then this is very bad. It is unlawful to check the information of a person without any reason. You are not supposed to employ the online resources for unlawful purposes. There could be some hard and fast rules regarding performing an online investigation about phone number. You should be aware of the rules and regulations of your country regarding online investigation so that you could perform a legal research. If you need further information on tracing phone numbers then you can visit these websites:who is calling me and Cell phone Number Look Up. |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Let me guess. US?
Well, wherever you are, let me assure you that out here this information isn't public (what is this horror - address from number? The horror!) and not only you will be dragged out in the plaza and shot for breach of privacy, but at least here in Romania there's been a couple of initiatives to build a reverse lookup, and that's for landlines only (aka - virtually nobody, we're wireless), and both attempts I saw have been quickly shut down, databases purged. Illegal at it's best. It's illegal for anyone outside the phone company to have such a database, and should you come over this information, you require the written consent of every single user to make it work (good luck with that). After that, you are required to purge the info bar written consent. To obtain a phone number (forward lookup) here, you need full and exact name and city of residence, at the very least. At the very worst, you'll need exact address, too. Unlisted numbers are non-locatable bar a search order from the police, signed by a judge, based on a dossier containing decent grounds for suspicion. IIRC, EU law states that all info not held with consent must be purged after a number of months. What was it? 9? |
Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Ditto, not working here also. I even tried to reboot a couple times and stripping off %first% from the string to no avail.

Re: [eSpeakCaller] Say who is calling
Great feature, thanks. Brings it in line with standard Nokia features.
v0.7 worked perfectly for me (except for off-screen UI), but update to v0.8 broke it (does not read out contact names anymore). Tried reinstalling etc. deleting config files, and removing other apps, to see what is causing it. no luck. So I reinstalled v0.7 and now works again. Looking forward to fix. Thanks. Welcome any other apps that makes this N900 work like old normal Nokia's. ie timed profiles etc. |
