Version 0.0.8 is old and very deprecated. It should have been cleaned up a long time ago, but there is no way to remove the package from testing (that I know of, at least) when it first is there.

One option is to push up one newer version to avoid unhappy testers :-p

The data matrix trouble is my fault. I broke it earlier and haven't got to fixing it yet. It is because the image format is changed (from b/w to rgb) and the data matrix thread doesn't handle it as it should yet. I'll look into it and fix it in hopefully the next version.

Thanks for the enhancements joshn53. I'll try to build an empty Qt GUI app to test how low we can go with loading times, and try to benchmark what we have some more.

I tested the 0.2.1-1 one in extras-devel and that works.
Also the webrequest plugin 0.1.15-0

Looks nice, works but you need a steady hand. :)

If I remember correctly, earlier versions worked with a blurry dmtx picture as well. Maybe it will do better if we convert to greyscale and pass that to the dmtx decoder? I'll see if I can make it perform better ;)

I fixed the dmtx decoding; we weren't copying enough data into the shared image buffer. dragly, could you review my fix? I'm not very familiar with the image processing code.

Are there any plans to support Aztec Code and Micro QR Code as well?

You're right! I was fiddling around with that value when I changed the format. I must have left it with the wrong amount at some point. Thanks for finding the error and fixing it! :)

Now I'm able to scan even those blurry dmtx codes again.

I'm not sure about this one. I guess the easiest approach would be to ask the zbar developers nicely about integrating this in their library, which we are using.

I haven't looked at the source code for zbar and don't know how the decoding is done, but I guess it should be doable to implement new formats. I have no experience with image analyzing, however, so I guess I won't be of much help on Aztec and Micro QR code yet.

Sorry but I think this thing should not be in extras-testing :/

Hmm, I'll have to take a look at that and see why it doesn't open standard JPEGs.

Regarding being in Testing, you've identified some problems, that's what -testing is there for! :)

Ah I see the problem, perhaps drop X-Fade a line on irc and ask him to get rid of it? I'm afraid I'm in the wrong timezone atm to ask him myself (back next week), but by all means point him here and ask nicely (tell him I'll buy him some beer when I next see him! ;))

The maintainer just has to vote down the package to remove it from -testing.

That doesn't seem to work, I voted it down a long while back. Looks like it can't be autopromoted, but equally that it just stays there in the repo.
