Try to install that libraries from the xterm with apt-get install.
I had the same problem with the original version of gpe-calendar and I fix installing each one from the xterm and then install gpe-calendar from the deb.

For responding so quickly with advice. I will do this, but please forgive me, I am a real newbie, so I am not sure what the 'xterm' is. Is this an application that I can/should install? Any help is appreciated!

Well, xterm it is a recommended application, sure... it is a console where you can execute commands that you can't play easily in other way. But it is not strictly necessary.

Try first with the original version of the GPE-Calendar (mine it is only a cosmetic change of this version) In order to do that install the official repository for the GPE apps, it is the next one:

Components: free

And then install the GPE apps from the Application Manager (in this case you don't need the xterm) After that, if you prefer the changes that I did to the applet, try to install my packet and it's posible that you don't have any trouble on this.

Before I open a bug in Bugzilla, can anyone else confirm that they also experience this problem:
When importing ICS files via the command line, the alarm information is lost (no alarm is created).
To reproduce:
Create an appointment with an alarm set.
Save the appointment as an ICS file, filename.ics.
Remove the appointment.
From xterm, import using the command: gpe-calendar -i filename.ics
Check the status of the alarm of the imported entry.
Check the filename.ics that the ALARM stanza is, in fact, there.

I've found that regardless of the fact that the ALARM stanza is there, it doesn't set the alarm information on the imported ICS file.
I'm attempting this on the N800 with GPE Calendar version 0.73-21

Note: Same results if importing via the GUI.
